The first PC patch for Judgment adds AMD FSR support

0

Judgment launched on PC alongside its sequel just last week to the joy of many. And now its first update has gone live, bringing with it some fixes as well as support for AMD’s FSR 2.1. Judgment‘s PC port was already pretty impressive, but with FSR 2.1 it should be that little bit better. It’s also worth noting that Lost Judgment also received an FSR 2.1 update.

For those who don’t know, Fidelity FX Super Resolution (FSR) is AMD’s version of image upscaling. It’s broadly similar to Nvidia’s DLSS, but it works in its own unique way. Simply put, FSR renders frames at a lower resolution, and then uses an upscaling algorithm to make it look like the image is running at a higher resolution. In turn, this increases performance in some titles without hugely impacting visual quality. The main difference between FSR and DLSS, is that the latter uses an AI algorithm, while the former does not.

FSR 2.1 comes to Judgment

But let’s run it back and cover what else Judgment‘s 1.01 patch brings. As we’ve said, FSR 2.1 should help improve performance. Besides that, a few problems have been addressed. First up, there was an issue that caused Judgment to crash on a 12th gen Intel CPU if E-Core was set to off. Additionally, the geometry quality setting wouldn’t save your selection in the graphics settings. Both of these issues have been fixed.

Beyond that, smaller improvements have been made to the game. For example, there should be better performance stability if you’re running the game at a high frame rate. This patch also knocks out two other problems caused by high frame rates. Generally speaking, Judgment should run much smoother now.

Patch 1.01 for Judgment is fairly small, but the addition of FSR 2.1 is welcome. The update post on Steam states that future patches will come if any more issues arise. It’s great that Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is supporting the PC releases of Judgment and Lost Judgment as well as it is.
