Elden Ring Poison and Bleed Build Guide – Venomous Bloodblade

0

In this Elden Ring Poison and Bleed Build Guide, I’m going to be showing you my Venomous Bloodblade build. This is a level 150 version of the Bloodblade build that incorporates poison elements into it. A lot of people have been asking me for an updated version of the Bloodblade build, and a lot of people have been asking me for a poison build, so in this build, we’re merging these two concepts to get a build that focuses on bleed, damage, and overall attack rating.

A Quality Build that uses Bleed and Poison to boost Attack Power extremely high while dual-wielding Curved Swords.

So the two curved swords we use for this build are the Scavenger’s Curved Sword and the Bandit’s Curved Sword.

The Scavenger's Curved Sword scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity and is a good Weapon for melee users who want to perform short-reaching heavier hits.
Scavenger’s Curved Sword

The Scavenger’s Curved Sword might be the best curved sword in the game in terms of status effects because it has bleeding on it natively, but you can only get one of them on your playthrough unless you have someone drop you another one or you go to NG+, so we’re not using two of them here, although that would probably be better for this build in general.

The reason we use Bandit’s Curved Sword is because we can’t get a second Scavenger’s Curved Sword easily and because it has the highest attack rating when you’re setting the blood affinity on the weapon, giving it a good amount of damage.

The Bandit's Curved Sword scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity and is a good Weapon for high dexterity characters who can excel at slashing attacks while spinning. The Bandit's Curved Sword scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity and is a good Weapon for high dexterity characters who can excel at slashing attacks while spinning.
Bandit’s Curved Sword

So the setup I like to use is the Scavenger’s Curved Sword in my right hand with the Poisonous Mist weapon skill on it set to the poison affinity. This gives it both blood and poison build-up, and it gives you an ability that can set poison rather quickly, which is going to boost your attack rating because of some of the talismans and the headpiece that we’re wearing. In the left hand, we have the Bandit’s Curved Sword with Seppuku on it in order to give it the bleeding affinity and also to give it a buff that increases its bleed build-up as well as its attack power.

If you are familiar with the Bloodblade build, then you’ll know that the general strategy with Curved Swords, if you’re trying to build up status effects, is to do running L1s and jumping L1s. This is because the weapons hit twice each really, really quickly, allowing you to proc status effects fast, and that’s exactly what we want to go for here when we’re running around on the landscape or attacking bosses.

When I’m exploring, I usually don’t use Seppuku or Poisonous Mist; I focus on raw damage. Although this build features status effects, their main role is to boost attack power through talismans and headgear, maximizing damage from regular attacks. The status effects like Hemorrhage and poison are a bonus, but the primary goal is to increase your attack power.

Status effects can trigger useful additional damage, but the core aim is to boost the impact of each L1 attack. This way, even if you aren’t actively using status effects, you’re still benefiting from their indirect damage bonuses. This allows you to concentrate on high damage output while still having the potential for status-based damage when it happens.

Mushroom Crown is part of the Mushroom Set, and is a Heavyweight headpiece that raises attack power when something nearby suffers from poison or rot, this includes yourself.Mushroom Crown is part of the Mushroom Set, and is a Heavyweight headpiece that raises attack power when something nearby suffers from poison or rot, this includes yourself.
Mushroom Crown

For this build, I use the Mushroom Crown as the headpiece. It grants a 10% attack power boost when you or your enemies are afflicted with Poison or Scarlet Rot, which happens frequently in this build. You could also choose the White Mask, which is triggered by bleeding, offering a reliable boost with Seppuku. Both options work; it’s a matter of preference.

The build requires good endurance for stamina, as dual-wielding and quick L1 attacks deplete stamina fast. This allows you to wear heavier armor, which is helpful since you’ll be trading blows often. Just ensure you stay within the medium roll range to maintain agility. This combination of endurance and armor is key for the aggressive playstyle of this build.

Elden Ring Poison and Bleed Build Guide – Talismans

The talismans I use for this Poison and Bleed build are Rotten Winged Sword Insignia, Millicent’s Prosthesis, Kindred of Rot’s Exultation, and Lord of Blood’s Exultation.

Rotten Winged Sword Insignia greatly raises attack power with successive attacks.Rotten Winged Sword Insignia greatly raises attack power with successive attacks.

Millicent’s Prosthesis

Rotten Winged Sword Insignia and Millicent’s Prosthesis both increase attack power as you rapidly strike. This works well with curved swords, especially when dual-wielding, as you attack quickly, building up the attack power with each hit. Stacking both talismans can lead to a significant boost in damage, particularly when combined with Kindred of Rot’s Exultation and Lord of Blood’s Exultation.

Lord of Blood's Exultation raises attack power by 20% for 20 seconds when Blood Loss occurs in the vicinity.Lord of Blood's Exultation raises attack power by 20% for 20 seconds when Blood Loss occurs in the vicinity.

Kindred of Rot’s Exultation

Lord of Blood’s Exultation and Kindred of Rot’s Exultation provide a 20% attack power boost when you trigger Hemorrhage (bleeding) or Poison/Scarlet Rot. Seppuku can trigger Lord of Blood’s Exultation on yourself, allowing you to boost your attack power without hitting an enemy. Poison is easier to set on enemies, but you can also trigger it on yourself with consumables like Raw Meat Dumpling, activating the bonus from Kindred of Rot’s Exultation and the Mushroom Crown. This is useful in fights where enemies are immune to blood loss or poison—you can still boost your attack power by poisoning yourself.

Raw Meat Dumpling

The Raw Meat Dumpling instantly poisons you, triggering a 30% attack power boost from the Mushroom Crown and the bonus from Kindred of Rot’s Exultation. This allows you to maintain high attack power even if you can’t trigger status effects on your enemies. Despite its limitations, this build can achieve attack ratings of up to 1200 with each weapon when fully buffed, delivering immense damage.

This setup is unique because it can leverage all four talismans that boost attack power. To maximize this build, you need to attack quickly to gain the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia and Millicent’s Prosthesis boosts while also triggering Poison and Bleeding to activate Kindred of Rot’s Exultation and Lord of Blood’s Exultation. It’s a challenging build to set up but can result in extremely high damage output.

The stats I use for this Poison and Bleed build are 50 Vigor, 20 Mind, 32 Endurance, 50 Strength, 50 Dexterity, 9 Intelligence, 14 Faith, and 9 Arcane.

I opt for 50 Vigor because you’ll be spamming L1 attacks, which often leads to taking damage. With this build, it’s okay to take a few hits as long as you win the fight. High Vigor ensures you can survive trading blows while still triggering Hemorrhage and dealing significant damage.

20 Mind provides enough FP to use Seppuku and Poisonous Mist regularly, but this build doesn’t rely heavily on FP. You’ll mainly focus on running L1s, jumping L1s, and other dual-wielding attacks, minimizing the use of weapon abilities that usually rely on the main-hand weapon.

32 Endurance offers enough Stamina for this build since rapid L1 attacks drain Stamina quickly. This also allows for decent armor to help you survive when trading damage.

The 50 Strength and 50 Dexterity boost weapon damage, as both weapons in this build have C scaling in these stats. Investing in Strength and Dexterity provides better damage returns than focusing on Arcane, which would give only a slight increase in Poison and Bleeding buildup, but significantly lower overall damage output.

You don’t need Intelligence for this build, and 14 Faith is included because the starting class was Confessor. You could add one more point in Faith to use Flame, Grant Me Strength, which increases your physical damage by 20%, further boosting your attack power.

With this setup, you can get over 1400 attack rating with both weapons when fully buffed. While focusing on Poison and Bleeding buildup has some merit, maximizing your Strength and Dexterity leads to higher overall damage, making this a potent and effective build.

Elden Ring Poison and Bleed Build Guide – Final Tips

A couple of final tips before I wrap up this guide: Prioritize running L1 and jumping L1 attacks. These hit with four simultaneous strikes, which helps trigger status effects quickly. When facing a difficult enemy, lead with Poisonous Mist. Although it has a longer windup, it can often set the Poison status effect immediately.

You might need to start casting it early to ensure the enemy walks into the mist, even if you miss the initial swing. This boosts your attack power by 30% before you even land a hit, providing a significant advantage in tough fights, as long as the enemy can be poisoned.

Thorny Cracked Tear

For the Flask of Wondrous Physick, I recommend using the Thorny Cracked Tear, which boosts damage with successive attacks. This fits well with the build’s focus on rapid attacks to increase damage output. Additionally, the Greenburst Crystal Tear, which enhances stamina regeneration, is highly beneficial.

Since this build doesn’t use the Green Turtle Talisman (as it’s more damage-focused), the extra stamina regeneration is crucial, especially during boss fights or challenging encounters. The increased stamina recovery helps keep your attacks and dodges consistent, providing the endurance needed for prolonged battles. These are solid options for maximizing this build’s efficiency.

Stay tuned for more Elden Ring builds. As always, let us know if you have questions or other tips in the comments below.
