All Slime Science Resources and Locations

Science. It explains so much about the world around us. From how chemicals interact to understanding the great mysteries of life. Slime Science on the other hand just means questioning your sanity and hunting down one more resource node to complete the latest gadget. Don’t ask why you need 10 Radiant Ores to make a jetpack to launch yourself in the air. Just get them so you can start flying.

In Slime Rancher, getting resources was primarily done through machines that would harvest the ground in various regions. It was random to an extent as to what would be pulled when checking on the machines. Now in Slime Rancher 2, you have an upgrade to your vacpack that will harvest various nodes found around the islands.

Jellystone

One of the basic materials in most slime science recipes, Jellystone veins are found in the Rainbow Fields. Look around rock outcroppings, in the caves, and on the sides of the mountain. They blend in well with some rock faces, so make sure you’re scanning areas closely for this resource. It can also spawn above the ocean, so make sure the vacpack stays on when the node pops. Otherwise, you risk some or all pieces falling into the watery grave below.

The nodes will give between 1-3 pieces of Jellystone with most giving 2-3. Listening in for a chime that accompanies resources will help in narrowing down their spawns when first finding them. Where they appear will rotate, but some locations like near the refinery link appear to replenish more frequently.

Deep Brine

Looking like a water spout from Slime Rancher is a Deep Brine node. These little fountains may throw off a new rancher as it looks more like a reskinned spot to fill your water tank than it does a thing to be harvested. Don’t be fooled, though. Inside this little spout is a necessary component for many builds back in the lab. There’s less chance of dropping any pieces you suck out of these nodes overall, but it could still happen.

Deep Brine nodes can be found along the shoreline all across the Rainbow Fields. They can even make their way into the shores of the ranch itself in the beach biome. Look for a couple to hang out near the boat. Some even spring up in the caves that are around like the Phosphor Gordo’s cave. You’ll know the vein is tapped when the spout recedes into the rocks below.

Radiant Ore

The resource everyone chomps at the bit to find as fast as possible. Once equipped with a vacpack that can harvest the various parts of the environment, head for the Ember Valley or Starlight Strand. Radiant Ores will spawn all over these regions, but until you have some to make a jetpack, there is a limit to what can be claimed. Look underneath rocky overhangs, on ledges, and just listen for the resource sound to find some of this material.

Once acquired, the world opens up to a rancher with a jetpack. There is more Radiant Ore to be found in caves, and up high in hard-to-reach areas. It is an abundant resource, but it is also used in many gadgets and curios.

Silky Sand

Found in both the Starlight Strand and the Ember Valley is the Silky Sand spout. It looks like a Deep Brine spot but is colored in a muddy brown. Pulling sand containers from these nodes helps get through several quality-of-life tools a rancher will need. They can be mistaken for a Pogofruit tree at night if one is a little too tired from dodging slimes trying to munch on you and running all around.

Silky Sand spawns in the tide pool areas. You’ll know you’re in one when there are Angler Slimes nearby. The area you can find this resource isn’t limited to outdoors either. If you’re in a cave system, and it hosts Angler Slime and tide pools, then look around carefully. There is a good chance of finding some of these even in those underground areas. Coral is also a good indicator you’re in the right area for finding a spot gushing up some sand.

Strange Diamond

One of the rarest things in the entire game is the Strange Diamond. It is a fairly uncommon resource and will provide 1 and only ONE diamond per harvest. It’s not needed in large amounts for crafting, but it is still recommended to be on the lookout for this item. Diamond veins have the tell-tale sound that resource nodes can put off. They have a good chance of appearing in the cave systems behind Gordos, but can occasionally be spotted out in other areas.

They are not unique to any particular region. They are the only resource that can be located on all 3 main hubs. Ember Valley and Starlight Strand have more opportunistic places to find Strange Diamonds, but sometimes the little Phosphor cave in Rainbow Fields can hide a surprise for a lucky rancher. Just make sure you keep an eye out for their pastel sea-foam green coloration when you hear the sound of a resource near you.

Primordial Oil

Heading into Ember Valley sounds like a nice vacation. Be careful where you step! There are oil geysers throughout the region. No damage will come to a player should they stumble upon these black and purple spouts. Ready that Resource Harvester before going to town on this gushing vein. You get a few pre-packed jars of oil to take with you.

Climb on top of the mountains or head into the caves. Head any which way and you’ll likely be swimming in oil before the sun sets and the slime moon rises. It’s like Deep Brine and Silky Sand. Harvest until the center spout wanes back into the rocks below, and then move on. It can hide behind small rock outcroppings in caves, and sometimes it appears on ledges that are precarious to reach.

Lava Dust

Time to head into the heart of the heat. The lava area in Ember Valley is the only spot a player can find this resource. Lava Dust is one of the rarer spawners, and it has a small area where it can be found. Look around the hardened lava pits, and inside the Batty Gordo cave to have any chance of harvesting the flowing molten goo.

Like all gushing spots, it will produce a bottled version of its resource for ranchers to take with them. To tell them apart from other spout resources, note that they give off a slight glow, and are a mix of muddy water and light pools.

Buzz Wax

Buzz Wax is found all over the Starlight Strand. More often than not when a rancher is out in this area of the Far, Far Range they will encounter these full beehives. Hanging from trees, giant tree roots, rocks, and mushrooms, it is harder to find a spot that doesn’t have Buzz Wax than does.

The wax comb resource is characterized by a muted brown hive. It will be dripping a dull goldenrod secretion when it is able to get harvested. Once tapped, the dripping will stop, but the goldenrod color will remain coated on the outside of the hive.

Wild Honey

Not to be confused with its cousin, Buzz Wax, Wild Honey is ready to stand out. Where Buzz Wax hives are muted in coloration, Wild Honey is vibrant. With bright yellow and black stripe patterns like a yellow jacket or a bee, this resource is easy to distinguish at a distance.

While a louder coloration, Wild Honey hives are not as abundant. Sticking mostly to the areas near the Hunter and Honey Gordos is a player’s best bet for finding this resource. It will spawn in other areas as well, but not with as many possible nodes.
