A new update for Helldivers 2 is here with Patch 01.000.300. And this particular patch comes with a long awaited community request that finally disables auto vaulting in Helldivers 2.

How to disable auto vaulting in Helldivers 2

To turn off auto vaulting in Helldivers 2, players need to bring up the options menu and navigate to the gameplay tab. Then, look to the bottom of this menu and you’ll see a new option called Toggle Auto Climb. This is set to yes by default, but by switching it to off you’ll never auto vault in Helldivers 2.

Instead, to vault over objects you’ll need to manually press the Climb button, which is mapped to the Cross/X button by default. There will likely be plenty of players who prefer to keep this feature on its default setting. After all, not having to worry about an additional button input during tense combat can be relieving. But plenty of experienced Helldivers feel that it gets them into more trouble than anything else. And the truth is, they have a point.

Locations in Helldivers 2 tend to have plenty of little debris or rocks that jut out from the ground. And it’s easy to miss them when trying to run away from a horde of Terminids. That’s not a problem either until your character decides to waste time climbing up something as opposed to running away. I can personally attest to this action killing me more times than I’d like to count in the game. So with a patch that’s brought along a host of new weapon changes and fixes, it’s not an understatement to say that this addition is especially welcome.

But now that this feature has been removed, we can all go back to blaming our deaths on that one teammate who decided to use the orbital cannon at point-blank range. And after all your new-found success, check out which Warbond is best in Helldivers 2.
