It seems that the amount the giant has allegedly paid to acquire the rights to the license has been leaked: 600 million dollars. While it certainly seems like an extremely high amount, it’s important to remember that this encompasses numerous projects that would define the future of Lara Croft. Additionally, if all this is true, Embracer Group would no longer hold the license, although Amazon would rely on Crystal Dynamics for the development of its games.

For comparison, it is estimated that Amazon spent about 250 million dollars on the rights to The Lord of the Rings, which allowed it to create multiple seasons of the series and even spin-offs. Now, the 600 million dollars for Tomb Raider would cover both video games and series as well as movies.
