Xbox 360 Marketplace Set To Delist More Than 40 Games Next Week

Microsoft has published a new list on its support website, confirming the delisting of more than 40 games from the Xbox 360 Marketplace.

Microsoft has revealed plans to delist several video game titles and DLCs from the Xbox 360 Marketplace, effective February 7th. The specific titles being removed will vary based on the account’s region, and those who already purchased the titles will not be affected.

Users can currently visit the Xbox official support site and check the shared PDF lists of removed games for their respective regions. Gamers will mostly be affected by the removal of Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, as these two JRPGs are exclusive to the Xbox 360 console. The two games can also be considered to have a cultural heritage, with how both involved members from the development team that worked on the iconic Chrono Trigger.

Lost Odyssey, boasts a captivating narrative crafted by none other than Hironobu Sakaguchi, widely recognized as the father of the iconic Final Fantasy franchise. The musical score is also composed by Nobuo Uematsu, a renowned veteran of the Final Fantasy series. The plot revolves around a group of immortals as they navigate the dangers of a world in the midst of a magical industrial revolution, while grappling with the emotional turmoil brought on by their slowly resurfacing memories.

Blue Dragon Protagonists

Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama’s involvement in Blue Dragon might be already obvious from the cover art, but it is also another JRPG where Sakaguchi got involved. This epic adventure follows a group of friends on their traditional quest to defeat an evil ruler as they journey across the world. What’s unique here is the use of character shadows in gameplay, and how they offer players the ability to mix and match skills from different shadow classes to create powerful hybrid fighters.

A Microsoft spokesperson told Gematsu that “these titles will no longer be purchasable on the Xbox 360 Store only, and titles that are available to be purchased on the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S Stores will remain purchasable.” That means backwards compatible games are safe, including Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon, along with other gaming gems like Star Wars KOTOR 2, Jet Set Radio, and Left 4 Dead, and all of them are now considered preserved on newer Xbox consoles.
