Warzone 2.0 Survey Suggests Verdansk Could Return

Warzone’s very first Battle Royale map has been mentioned in a new survey from Activision.

Activision is reportedly considering bringing back the likes of Verdansk and Caldera to Warzone 2.0, as per a new survey (via CharlieIntel). The survey in question asks fans, “which of the following would you prefer for the next Warzone big map?”

The survey then lists five options to choose from, with four of the five options being previously released maps. Users do have the option to vote for a brand new map, but the remaining four options consist of Verdansk (the original and ’84 reimagining), Caldera, and even Black Ops 4’s Blackout map. Responses were, of course, divided amongst the community.

Verdansk has become synonymous with Warzone, kicking off Call of Duty’s hit Battle Royale series back in March of 2020 before receiving a 1984 reimagining the following year. Unlike other Battle Royale titles, such as Apex Legends, Warzone does not rotate between old and new maps, a feature that fans have been requesting for years now.

Shortly after the launch of Call of Duty: Vanguard in 2021, Verdansk was laid to rest and a brand new map debuted. Caldera was a new large-scale Battle Royale map set “somewhere in the Pacific” and ushered in a new age of Warzone…along with plenty of bugs and glitches. Caldera remains playable as part of the original Warzone, which was rebranded to ‘Warzone Caldera’ following the release of Warzone 2.0 last year.

Although the community would love to see the return of Verdansk, we’ve seen surveys like this make the rounds in the past, and nothing has come from them. For the time being, we don’t recommend getting your hopes up, as pointed out by CharlieIntel, this survey “does not confirm any potential returns, at this point.”

But there’s still plenty to look forward to, as Season 2 of Warzone 2.0 and Modern Warfare II is just a matter of weeks away. The new content update will be released on February 15th with a new resurgence map, a UI overhaul, the return of classic hardcore mode, floating loot, and more.
