Don’t Nod Entertainment is searching for new talent to assist with its next game.

Don’t Nod, the development studio behind Life Is Strange, has teased its next project in an image posted to its official Twitter profile on Friday. Providing a glimpse at calculated audiovisual nostalgia, the post conjures up memories of the past while also seeking to bring team members on for the future.

Don’t Nod’s last game was 2020’s Twin Mirror, developed as its first self-owned IP to be published. Following that, the company had switched to game publishing alongside development, releasing PortaPlay’s Gerda: A Flame in Winter in September 2022. The developer has also been working on Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, to be published by Focus Entertainment on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC in 2023. Don’t Nod had previously made apparent its intent to release eight new games between 2023 and 2025.

The post by Don’t Nod’s Twitter account teases the direction for one of those projects from the developer. Specifically asking “Does it bring back childhood memories?”, the posted image shows a rendered image of a classic-style wooden TV stand, with a CRT television atop it, flanked by shelves of VHS tapes, and an old-school cartridge-based video-game console plugged in via composite AV cables. A VCR and suspiciously Starburst-style candies are also visible in the image, conjuring up 90s-style memories for any gamers they’re clearly aiming to catch the attention of.

The post also seems to be looking to catch the attention of people on a professional level. Don’t Nod’s Twitter post notes that the developer is looking for “talents to join the team in Montreal”, with a link to job openings. The link leads to Don’t Nod’s own jobs page in French, which includes currently-open listings for game and level design, 2D and 3D animation and illustration, plus music and sound design.

The post also specifies that these listings are in relation to a “new narrative game”, which along with the styling of the preview render, hints at a project similar to the story-driven Life is Strange series that Don’t Nod is most well-known for.

While as mysterious as one would expect from the company behind the unraveling adventure of Life is Strange, the posts definitely carry the air of a project early in development. Something that still needs designers for visuals, audio, and the game itself recruited must barely be in the base conception stages.

So while Don’t Nod may have some compelling concepts of classical imagery to show off at the start here, don’t expect to see anything borne of it anytime soon. In the meantime, fans of the developer can look forward to what it has in store with Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden when that one releases later this year.
