Wreck havoc all over the Netherworld of Hinomoto.
NIS America has announced that it will handle the localization and publishing of Disgaea 7 in overseas markets under the name Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless. The game will be available this fall for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC, and will support English and Japanese audio options.
Disgaea 7 is an epic strategy RPG adventure that tells the story of the lazy samurai Fuji and the bushido fangirl Pirilika as they try to fight against the tyrannical regime governing the demonic realm of Hinomoto. There are at least 40 demonic character classes to choose from, including four brand-new additions such as: Maiko, Bandit, Zombie Maiden, and Big Eye. Moreover, units can experience Jumbification, which lets characters grow to humongous proportions and deal insane damage to enemies.
The game will be available in standard, deluxe, and limited editions. The deluxe edition will include the base game along with a digital soundtrack and artbook, while the limited edition (priced at $158.99) will contain the deluxe edition contents plus “The Art of War” hardcover art book, “Songs of Honor” two-disc original soundtrack, SteelBook, mini Byoubu art display, “Netherworld Warriors” yunomi teacup, and a collector’s box. Pre-orders are now available via the NIS America official store.
In an Interview with Gematsu, director Shunsuke Minowa speaks in depth about the setting and story themes. The goal here is to go back to the series’ roots of featuring a single world as the main setting of the game, as opposed to multiple worlds in Disgaea 5 and 6. NPC conversations and quests are also written with the intention of bringing more depth to the Netherworld of Hinomoto, instead of spreading the focus on multiple worlds and characters like before.
The interview also delved a bit into the new features introduced in this game, such as Item Reincarnation and Demonic Intelligence. Item Reincarnation simply allows players to create distinct weapons with special proprieties, which is a feature to enhance replayability, per the director’s words. As for Demonic Intelligence, it allows players to tweak how the character behaves in each situation automatically, and there are ranked match types where these characters can battle by themselves without player input, so it can be considered a different type of competitive fun compared to real-time strategy matches.
