The Witcher season four will see The Matrix’s Laurence Fishburne join its cast so who will he play?

Pre-production on the upcoming fourth series begins this month after the Netflix fantasy drama was massively delayed due to the Hollywood actors and writers’ strikes.

With the protests now over, work can begin on season four of The Witcher with the streamer announcing a new arrival in the shape of actor Laurence Fishburne.

The three-time Emmy Award and Tony Award-winning star is known for playing Morpheus in The Matrix franchise and Bowery King in the John Wick franchise.

He was also Ike Turner in the 1993 Tina Turner biopic What’s Love Got to Do With It and Theodore Brassel in Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible: III.

Fishburne isn’t the only addition in the fourth season of The Witcher as Geralt of Rivia is also being recast.

For the first three seasons, Geralt was played by Superman star Henry Cavill who decided to leave the franchise behind after reportedly only making a “short-term deal” with the show.

But fear not, as this doesn’t spell the beginning of the end with the role of Geralt recast.

Instead, Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth will be taking on the part of the monster hunter in season four and presumably the fifth series.

Even though it is exciting to hear about Fishburne joining the cast, it is still quite a while before The Witcher will be back.

Thanks to the delays caused by the strikes last year, season four isn’t expected to make its debut until late 2025.

And it has already been confirmed there will be a season five on the horizon so there is still plenty to look forward to.

The Witcher season 4 is expected to come out in late 2025 on Netflix.
