The One Show has been put on pause for the royal celebrations as presenter Jermaine Jenas revealed the schedule shake-up at the end of Thursday’s show.

As the episode drew to a close, Alex Jones told fans they’d be back again on Tuesday (May 9) for a Eurovision special.

Next week, Alex and Ronan Keating will be presenting live from Liverpool ahead of the international competition’s first semi-final.

The two hosts will be joined by Graham Norton and Eurovision runner-up Sam Ryder for the special as Alex shared the show wanted to know people’s plans for the musical event.

Replaced The One Show on Friday evening will be HM The King’s Coronation: The Eve of the Coronation, an hour-long documentary fronted by Kirsty Young.

Viewers will see Kirsty joined by a series of guests who share their personal insights and stories of King Charles and Queen Camilla.

Ahead of the coronation celebrations, the show will also see Sophie Raworth outside of Westminster Abbey, where the historic event will take place on Saturday.

It’ll also feature JJ Chalmers speaking to multiple members of the armed forces, who are preparing to take part in one of the biggest military parades in British living memory.

If people still want their royal TV fix, The One Show’s replacement will be followed by Sing for the King: The Search for the Coronation Choir.

The musical feature follows Gareth Malone, Motsi Mabuse, Amanda Holden and Rose Ayling-Ellis all coaching a group of singers to combat their nerves in order to perform in front of royalty at Windsor Castle.

However, from Monday it looks as though the royal celebrations will come to an end as the nation looks to Eurovision.

Eurovision Welcomes The World kicks off at 6:30pm and overruns into the usual time The One Show airs.

A synopsis of the special reads: “Rylan and Sunetra Sarker kick off Eurovision with highlights from this year’s Turquoise Carpet welcome event, as the performers arrive in Liverpool.

“Semi-final hosts Alesha Dixon, Hannah Waddingham and Julia Sanina gear up for their presenting debut together and Rylan spends time backstage to see all of the final Eurovision preparations.”

Viewers will also see AJ Odudu and Joel Dommett present highlights from the event outside at St George’s Hall.

Ukrainian Eurovision winner Jamala will also be dueting a Beatles classic with the British singer Birdy along with a special performance of Rise Like a Phoenix by Conchita,

The One Show continues Tuesday, May 9 on BBC One from 7:00pm
