The October Prime Day PlayStation deals discount a wide range of the best PS5 games, from God of War to The Last of Us, and plenty of smaller hits as well. If you’re in the market for a cat game, some Final Fantasy, maybe a classic RPG or two, and some Spider-Man, you’re in luck. If you’re after some PS4 games, you’re in even more luck. Some of these games have even steeper discounts on the PS4 versions, and you can potentially upgrade to the PS5 edition for free.

Almost a year after God of War Ragnarok launched, the hit action game is going for $49.99 – a $20 discount and cheaper than usual. The PS4 version is discounted to $39.99 if you need that one instead. Ragnarok follows Kratos and his son Atreus in a dramatic quest to keep the world from ending in eternal winter. Pretty much everything is improved compared to the original. Combat is crunchier, puzzles are more satisfying, and the story is unafraid to explore darker territory.
Octopath Traveler 2 is back on sale for $28.49 on PS5. The sequel does pretty much everything better than the original, as the Octopath Traveler 2 devs intended, with stronger stories, more detailed and interesting environments, and some welcome improvements to the turn-based combat system. All of this is set to one of the best soundtracks of 2023 as well.
Square Enix discounted another banger – Theatrhythm Final Bar Line, a “greatest hits” of sorts bringing the Final Fantasy music game’s most popular tracks together with a slew of brand-new songs. Little is lost in translation from the 3DS to console, so if you’re a fan of Square Enix music, it’s worth looking into. This one is $24.99 and only on PS4, though you can play it on your PS5 as well.
The PS5 reboot of FromSoftware’s first Souls game is down to $29.99. It might not have the modern flourishes of Elden Ring or Bloodborne, but Demon’s Souls has everything that helped the subgenre find its niche. There’s a seemingly impenetrable story, brutally challenging bosses halt your progress, everywhere is dripping with creepy atmosphere, and you have extensive character customization options to try and make it out alive. You won’t, though – not for a while.
The PS5 remaster of The Last of Us is back below $50 for Prime Day, coming in at $45.99. This version includes the Left Behind DLC and a slew of visual enhancements that bring the survival horror classic closer in line with The Last of Us Part 2.
If you’ve waited to jump through the interdimensional portal into Insomniac’s latest Ratchet and Clank game, now may be the time to do it. The critically-acclaimed Rift Apart, with its dual protagonists, gorgeous worlds, whip-smart combat, and buffet of gadgets, is down to $29.99. That’s $40 off the usual price of what we called the best game of 2021. The Steam version is still at full price, though, so if you want it on PC, you’ll have to wait a while longer.
If you like cats, puzzles, and cyberpunk, you’ll probably want to adopt Stray while it’s on sale for $25. This cute platform-puzzler from developer Skybound puts you in charge of a plucky cat trying to make it through a dangerous city in one piece. It’s one of the more popular indie games in the last few years and an inventive take on the genre.
Aloy’s world gets a lot more complicated in Forbidden West, with more factions and trouble – but also more friends to help along the way. Guerrilla refined its approach to building open worlds this time around, and you can jump in and see for yourself for $39.99. Just bear in mind this doesn’t include 2023’s Burning Shores DLC.
Sucker Punch’s definitive version of Ghost of Tsushima is going for $29.99 on PS5, complete with a new island and several upgrades compared to the original game. Sure, it’s basically “what if Assassin’s Creed in feudal Japan,” but that’s not really a bad thing.
What started as an April Fool’s joke turned into a whole new spinoff series for RGG Studio’s hit Yakuza franchise. Protagonist Ichiban Kasuga brings his love of Dragon Quest to the streets of Yokohama in Like A Dragon and turns the action game into a turn-based RPG. His story is a complex tale of betrayal, city politics, and underdog victories, and you can get it for $22.49 – the perfect way to catch up before Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth launches in 2024.
Bandai Namco’s fresh twist on Digimon gets a steep discount down to $9.99. Survive is a hybrid visual novel-slash-tactics game where you and your Digi pals try getting everyone out of the Digiworld alive when a class trip goes terribly long. Things take a pretty dark turn depending on what choices you make, and they even influence battles. Your relationships with your Digimon help determine how their powers evolve.
Tales of Arise is going for $18.99 during Prime Day. This grand re-imagining of the decades-old Tales series tells the story of two worlds in conflict and the measures people will take to win their freedom. It’s easily the best the series has been in years, and Bandai is even putting out a DLC expansion soon.
Final Fantasy Tactics might get most of the attention, but Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together perfects almost everything that Tactics tried. Reborn is an enhanced and modernized version with some quality-of-life improvements, but the deep tactics, branching paths, and emotionally charged tale of politics and betrayal is just as good as it ever was. You can grab it on PS4 for $29.99.
Before Cloud picked up the Buster Sword, there was Zack. And a few other guys. And Sephiroth of course. The Crisis Core prequel is where Final Fantasy 7 starts getting a bit messy, but it sheds light on Cloud’s past and has a big role to play in the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. The Reunion remake is much more enjoyable to play than the original PSP game, thanks to some significant updates, and you can pick it up for $24.99.
The Ultimate Edition of Miles Morales is down to $39.99 once more. This one includes the Miles Morales spinoff and the remastered PS5 version of Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man, so you can catch up on the Spidey saga ahead of Spider-Man 2‘s release date later in October 2023.
