Joe Keery has become a beloved household name over the years thanks to his fan-favourite role as Steve Harrington in the first four seasons of Stranger Things. With one more season of the Netflix hit currently in the works, the star’s latest role away from the surreal adventures in Hawkins has just been announced.

Stranger Things favourite Joe will co-star with Lily James and Willem Dafoe for his next project.

He’ll be filling out the supporting cast with Rachel Sennott and Rebecca Antonac in the Saverio Constanzo-directed feature film.

The film is titled Finalmente L’alba aka Finally Dawn, though no plot details are currently known.

Filming is due to begin later this month in Italy while writers, the Duffer Brothers, get to work penning the fifth season of Stranger Things.

Director Saverio is known for his indie romantic drama Hungry Hearts, starring Adam Driver.

Once the project has wrapped, Joe will be joining Millie Bobby Brown and the rest of the Hawkins gang for one more battle against the Upside Down.

Having starred in one of Netflix’s biggest-ever shows, the actor has already lined up several major film roles.

Joe has recently wrapped production on the film Marmalade with Camila Morrone and Aldis Hodge.

Meanwhile, his co-star Lily has also had considerable success with her series Pam & Tommy, which received 10 nods from the awards.

She was also recently seen in Netflix’s The Dig with Ralph Fiennes, and starred as a young version of Meryl Streep’s Donna Sheridan in the musical sequel Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.

Lily has just wrapped production on the drama film Providence opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Himesh Patel and will star in the British rom-com What’s Love Got to Do with It? with Emma Thompson.

Their co-star Willem most recently reprised his iconic villainous role as Norman Osborn/Green Goblin in Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.

He will next be spotted in The Favourite director Yorgos Lanthimos’ next film Poor Things, also starring Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo.

Recent credits also include Robert Eggers’ The Northman, and Guillermo del Toro’s Nightmare Alley.

Fans of Joe’s character Steve and the rest of the Stranger Things gang sadly have a little longer to wait for the final chapter, as the Duffers have only recently confirmed they have started getting to work on the scripts.

Stranger Things seasons 1-4 are available to stream on Netflix.
