Din Djarin and his tiny green companion are heading to the big screen. Lucasfilm announced a new Star Wars movie on Tuesday called The Mandalorian & Grogu. The film is set to begin production in 2024, which could mean a release date in 2025 or 2026.

The film seems to be a replacement for The Mandalorian season 4, which hadn’t officially been announced yet. The Mandalorian & Grogu will be directed by Jon Favreau who created The Mandalorian and has served as the showrunner since its first season. The movie will be produced by Dave Filoni, who has worked closely with Favreau over the last several years and is the chief creative officer of Lucasfilm.

While this movie will surely follow the pair in their further adventures, it’s not clear who else might be joining them. They’ve already crossed paths with Boba Fett, Luke Skywalker, Ahsoka, and the planet of Mandalore on their journey, which could mean that this will be a massive team up movie. Then again, Filoni is also supposedly set to make a movie set in the New Republic sometime after Ahsoka season 2, so it’s possible that’s the team up and The Mandalorian & Grogu is only laying the groundwork.

Along with Favreau and Filoni’s movies, Lucasfilm also revealed the rest of its upcoming theatrical slate, which includes the previously announced Rey movie directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and a movie directed by James Mangold, which will supposedly explore the origins of the Jedi.

Several other Star Wars movies have been planned and canceled over the last few years, including a movie from Kevin Feige. But there are also several other projects that have simply gone dark, like a movie from Stranger Things director Shawn Levy, one from Taika Waititi, and a trilogy from The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson. These projects weren’t mentioned in Lucasfilm’s announcement post, though it remains to be seen if that means they’re canceled or just delayed. Polygon has reached out to Lucasfilm for comment on their status.
