Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection’s Servers Could Only Cater for 192 of its 10,000 Players

Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection finally launched, revitalizing the memories and nostalgia for thousands of players. Unfortunately, the multiplayer, the feature most looked toward to relive their childhood, was seriously underdeveloped.

Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection only launched with three servers

Anywhere you look up the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection – Reddit, X, especially the Steam reviews – you will see an onslaught of negative accounts of the game. Players are outraged and upset that the game only launched with three multiplayer servers, each one only hosting 64 players.

This means that out of the 10 thousand players that wanted to revisit their childhood, only 192 could be catered to at a time. This criminal underestimation has left the community very angry indeed.

What’s more, is that when Aspyr fixed the problem, allowing more people to play the game at once, there were performance issues across the board, such as broken servers with no one being able to join the opposing side. Super high ping and problems associated with that are disrupting games, making their experience a miserable one.

As it stands, the only reason so many bought the game – the multiplayer – is completely unplayable. This becomes even crazier when you realise that Star Wars Battlefront 2, the original game, still has servers that people are playing on.

“So let me get this straight. You launched this game with only 3 servers on PC knowing full well people only bought it for that sole reason? Peak comedy gold. Easy refund. What a disappointment.”

Pro Vengeance – Steam Review

In what world does the remaster of an ancient game worse than the original that’s still running?

Many have alluded to the idea that Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection feels like a poorly made mod, not a fully priced remaster that costs $35. On that same note, I’ve seen players suggest the idea that the community could probably do a better job, and I’d say they’d likely be right.

It’s a shame to be sure, but I’ll remain hopeful that Aspyr will fix all of these problems, and the game will be a dream come true. Afterall, it’s not the first Battlefront game in recent history to have dodgy servers.
