One of the key features of Solo Leveling: Arise is the Gate dungeons, and it’s important to know about all the types available. Gates are dungeons you can complete in short amounts of time, but there’s more than just one type.

All Gate types in Solo Leveling Arise, explained

Once you complete the tutorial for Solo Leveling: Arise, you’ll get the chance to see all the Gates available for yourself. At first, you’ll only spot blue-colored Gates, but eventually, you’ll unlock further Gate types denoted by specific colors. Let’s go over all Gate types and how they work in Solo Leveling: Arise.

Gate type How it works Rewards
Normal Gates Common Gates that you can play by creating a party of Hunters or a party with Jinwoo. Weapon enhancement materials, Artifacts.
Dungeon Breaks Unlocks at Difficulty 5 or higher. Only a party with Jinwoo can enter Dungeon Breaks. Weapon Limit Break materials.
Red Gates Unlocks after completing Chapter 7. If you switch to Hard difficulty, these dungeons last longer and the combat encounters are tougher. Shadow materials, Rune Fragments.
Special Gates Includes stages with different requirements to meet. Shadow materials, Gold.

As you’re playing through story missions, you’ll be returning to Gates often to enhance your characters’ builds. By completing these dungeons of varying lengths you’ll earn rewards that can upgrade your weapons, Shadows, and skills. You’ll even earn Artifacts which can improve Jinwoo and other Hunters’ stats even further.

Gates also provide a ton of XP compared to other activities in Solo Leveling: Arise. Unfortunately, the one thing they don’t provide are Essence Stones. While you only start with Normal Gates, you’ll eventually be able to upgrade to Difficulty 5 or higher by selecting the “Rescan” button.

Once you’ve completed a Gate you can then provide to engage in mining operations. It’s something that you can activate and ignore until the time runs out, allowing you to collect sweet rewards. It doesn’t cost anything to go mining, so make sure to mine at every Gate after finishing them.
