Time is fleeting at The Game Awards 2023, where speeches are sandwiched between free Steam Deck giveaways and bits about Muppets. Sega, however, wasted none of the 1:33 it had in the limelight — the publisher revealed more than five new games from some of its dormant franchises.

The upcoming entries include new games in the Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, and Crazy Taxi franchises. According to a press release, these projects are part of an initiative to dig into Sega’s “treasure trove” of iconic series, and each are being “reimagined for a modern audience.” It’s unclear whether some of these games will be remakes or outright sequels, but much of the gameplay Sega showed off sure looked new — the Jet Set Radio and Streets of Rage footage in particular looked like more than mere remakes. None of the games have release windows as of this writing.

2023 wasn’t Sega’s busiest year, but it also wasn’t slow by any means: The spinoff Like a Dragon: Ishin brought the series back to the late Edo period; Company of Heroes 3 evolved the storied real-time strategy series; Total War: Warhammer 3 continued its march of post-release content; and Endless Dungeon provided a compelling roguelite loop during the busy fall season.

Oh, and, Sonic got straight up murdered.
