The gripping military drama SEAL Team returned to Paramount Plus with the season six premiere to provide insight after its jaw-dropping finale. Clay Spenser star Max Theriot opened up about his character’s future and hinted at his potential death.

The season five finale came to a shocking end after the Bravo team were ambushed while they were deployed on a mission in Mali.

The soldiers were attacked with missiles and gunshots, with many of their fates left hanging in the balance until the show released a season six trailer.

The action-packed drama has since made its comeback and revealed Clay had survived the ambush but had suffered life-changing injuries.

After his leg was almost blown off, the soldier patched himself up and jumped back into action to support his team.

However, the SEAL Team episode titled Low Impact showed he suffered major internal bleeding after he was flown to Germany for treatment.

While his wife Stella Baxter (Alona Tal) received the bad news, Clay also learned he had to have his leg amputated due to an infection.

Although fans were relieved to see there were no deaths, it appears as though that may not be the case for the remainder of the season.

Actor Max Thieriot opened up about Clay’s future and dropped a daunting clue.

However, ahead of the premiere, it was confirmed the actor would return to SEAL Team as a series regular.

The showrunner Spencer Hudnut admitted filming with Max while he was starring in another show proved to be difficult.

He stated: “It was a challenge. I wouldn’t recommend breaking a season of television where you don’t know if your number two is going to be going off making a new show.

“We’d probably written the first five scripts before we knew Fire Country was officially moving forward.”

“Because we were only doing 10 episodes, it certainly made the nuts and bolts of working out his schedule a lot easier than if we were doing a full 22,” Spencer told Cartermatt.com

As Clay will be sticking around fans can be sure to see an emotional side to the soldier as he adjusts to his new life.

It will undoubtedly be tough for Clay and Stella as they will have to juggle being new parents with Clay’s disability.

Despite this, it’s likely they will have the full support of the Bravo Team, this was seen as the leader Jason Hayes (David Boreanaz) and CIA liaison Mandy Ellis (Jessica Pare) rushed to be with Stella when she received the news.

SEAL Team season 6 airs weekly on Paramount+ in the USA. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
