Solve the mystery of Ashley’s kidnapping before heading to Spain.

If you’ve ever yearned for further context behind the trials and tribulations Leon and Ashley face in Resident Evil 4, then you’re in luck, as, to market the fast-approaching Resident Evil 4 Remake, developer Capcom has launched an ARG website, where you play as a Secret Service agent trying to help find the president’s daughter, also known as Baby Eagle.

The game presents you with a digital portal in which you communicate with some anonymous agents. They fill you in with the pertinent pieces of info, then provide you with evidence that you have to sift through to find some key detail, which you use to progress. Every clue you discern gets you closer to figuring out where Baby Eagle was taken.

Since the original Resident Evil 4 came out in 2005, it’s no big secret that Ashley was taken to Spain. There is where they eventually send special agent Leon S. Kennedy to go try and rescue her.

The ARG gives a bit more context behind the actual kidnapping, explaining how a government car was crashed into, its officials killed, and one of its passengers, Baby Eagle, abducted. She was then taken to an unlisted airfield where you learn she departed toward somewhere in Europe.

The ARG finally tells you to check back in tomorrow, and a quick look at the URL above, which reads “day/1,” makes it clear that this is only the first section of a more prolonged experience. Resident Evil 4 Remake releases in about three weeks, and given that we already found out that she’s somewhere in Europe, it seems unlikely that they’ll be able to stretch this ARG out up to the game’s release, but we’ll have to wait and see to be sure.

Resident Evil 4 continues Capcom’s savvy trend of remaking its old Resident Evil titles to modern standards. The Japanese development studio found great success with the Resident Evil 2 Remake and a softer but still solid outing with Resident Evil 3.

Resident Evil 4 is considered by many to be one of the greatest video games of all time and the father of the modern third-person shooter genre. Capcom certainly has a lot to live up to, but, so far, fan reception to its trailers and gameplay footage has been quite positive.

Resident Evil 4 Remake releases on March 24 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
