Nintendo shared a 20-minute Indie World Showcase earlier today (April 17), giving a glimpse at 17 new titles coming to the Switch over the next few months.
A number of optimistic fans were hoping for an update on Hollow Knight: Silksong, especially because the long-awaited sequel was recently rated in Australia, but there was no mention of the game in the Indie World Showcase, which can be viewed in full below.
Instead, there were plenty of cosy games. Sticky Business enables players to take charge of a sticker business, creating and fulfilling orders while learning more about their customers, while Stitch. is an embroidery-based puzzle game and Europa is driven by watercolour zen, as players set about creating a paradise.
Elsewhere in the Indie Showcase, it was confirmed that PLAYISM’s Refind Self: The Personality Test Game is set to come to Switch this Summer after previously only being available on PC and mobile alongside roguelike Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle game Splintered Fate. Yars Rising will also be released later this year. The reboot of Atari’s 1982 title Yars Revenge brings together hacking, combat and 2D-platforming while surreal puzzle game Lorelei And The Laser Eyes is due for release May 16.
There were plenty of animal games on show across Nintendo’s most recent Indie Showcase as well, including frog-based first person adventurer Valley Peaks, Animal Well, Duck Detective: The Secret Salami, and Another Crab’s Treasure.
Cats were the main draw though, with both the Stray-inspired Little Kitty, Big City and Cat Quest 3 getting shown off.
Summitsphere shared a look at smash-em-up 2D platformer Antonblast and confirmed a November 18 release date while a sequel to 2015’s SteamWorld Heist was also announced alongside an August release.
Earlier this month, Nintendo confirmed it would be “restructuring” a number of quality control and testing centres following the supposed delay of the Switch 2, which is now rumoured to be released at some point in 2025 instead of 2024.
This week, Nintendo announced it would not be showcasing at Gamescom 2024. “Players will have opportunities to try out Nintendo Switch games at other events throughout the year,” the studio said in a statement.
In other news, Supergiant Games has confirmed details of a technical test for Hades 2 ahead of its Early Access PC launch.
