Hunter X Hunter has been on hiatus since 2018, but the creator Yoshihiro Togashi has been steadily teasing his return since last may through sharing tidbits of his manuscript on Twitter. In preparation for new chapters to release, Shounen Jump has finally decided to publish the last uncompelled chapters of the original Manga 381-390 and release them on 4 November 2022. The volume will be priced at 528 Yen (approximately $4).

This further confirms that the serialization of Hunter X Hunter is taking steady steps towards its resumption. Another recent statement to support this was from Togashi’s own twitter, where he detailed the process and the situation of the current chapters (specifically 399 and 400) and his intention to hire more staff to streamline the process and make it easier. Togashi is now creating rough drafts and making requests from his specified staff members for how these chapters should end up. He also confirms in a comment to Weekly Shounen Jump that rough drafts of 10 more chapters are now completed.

It should still be considered, however, that the author is still currently suffering from various health complications. In a previous Art Exhibition message, he confirmed that his back pain was so severe he could not sit on a chair for two years, but he now found a comfortable position that lets him draw, and is working at a steady pace toward ending the 5-year-long hiatus. The story is supposed to follow up on the events of the dark continent arc, and more particularly the Succession Contest arc, where a game of thrones is being held among the fourteen princes of the Kakin Empire and its associated underworld organizations.

The subsequent 10 chapters are not the only ones in store for the fans, in fact, Togashi has already announced he had started on the next chapters back in July, so fans might be getting at least 20 chapters by next year. The author is keeping a steady progress report online, and maybe he will confirm the return of the serialization after November’s volume release. It has also not been confirmed if the volume will be later available for a worldwide release or not since the tweet is only from the Japanese Shounen Jump account for now.
