In God of War Ragnarok, there is a wide spectrum of things to do throughout Svartalfheim, one of them being the Favor of The Weight of Chains, in which part of the gameplay will require players to obtain the Watchtower Key.
Upon finding the Watchtower in Bay of Bounty, the door is locked and impassable beyond this point. This guide will delve into how to acquire the key and unlock the door to the Watchtower.
Travel To The Small Island
First, players should hop onto their canoe and paddle straight across the water to the north. Doing so will take them to a small island where the key will be located. For those unsure of which small island to venture towards, open the map, and the island will be north of the Watchtower.
After getting off the dock, turn to the right and go up the rocky pathway. There will be some lizards attempting to attack the player — to get rid of them, their nest will be further up the path, close to a ledge that allows the player to progress. After destroying the nest, climb up the ledge.
Climbing The Walls
To the left, there will be an impassable door. Go straight and get rid of debris, take a sharp left, and cling climb against the rock wall. Climb downward and hold onto the wood bars below, consistently moving to the right. Once the player has gone far enough, there will be an obvious ledge above — climb up it.
Jamming the Gear
Once the player has made their way up, take a sharp left and open the door, this will serve as a handy shortcut later. Up ahead, there will be another lizard nest — destroy it to avoid any unnecessary damage. Next to the nest is a wheel-like mechanism that moves the elevator across from it. Interact with it so that the elevator base moves downward so Kratos can walk onto it. Before continuing, freeze the elevator in place by throwing the Leviathan Axe onto the gear (situated on the left side), which locks the entire elevator from moving up again.
Elevator Ride
Next, go back to the ledge and climb to the right until Kratos is at eye level with the elevator. Climb up onto the elevator and recall the Leviathan Axe — doing so will un-freeze the gear on the elevator, and it will automatically begin raising the player upward. At this point, the player will have a decent vantage point of the suspiciously cracked stone square below — go ahead and make a jump and smash the Blades of Chaos into the center. Kratos will break through the stone which will lead the player into a new room.
Retrieve The Watchtower Key
In the room, there will be a monster guarding the area which the player will need to kill. After defeating the monster, open the chest close to the shelves — the Watchtower Key will be inside as well as 168 Hacksilver. Next, hop back onto the canoe and paddle back straight across to Watchtower Island. Players will need to climb back up the wall to get to the Watchtower Door, located to the right.
