Forspoken showcases a wide open world absolutely packed with areas to explore, treasure to collect, and bosses to defeat. These boss fights are intense, featuring some of the best set-pieces in the game, and they offer a great challenge for players engaging with the combat systems.

After defeating a boss, however, you aren’t able to face them again; at least, not right away. This guide will break down how you can unlock the ability to challenge boss battles again long after beating them, allowing you to face your favorite fights.

To repeat boss battles, you’ll first need to beat the main campaign. Once you’ve beaten the final boss and rolled credits, you’ll load back into the game world, able to explore the open world and complete any leftover Detours. You’ll first need to complete the Detour: Lost Lullabies. This Detour is a worthwhile side quest that helps complete Frey’s emotional arc built up throughout the game, while also wrapping up a couple of narrative loose ends.

Once you’ve finished the Lost Lullabies Detour, you will then automatically begin a new Detour: A Blast From The Past. This quest line will walk you through the major boss battles from throughout the campaign.

These battles will play out exactly how they did when you first encountered them, complete with replays of the same cutscenes interspersed with the fights themselves. Upon completing a boss fight, the quest will update with the location of the next main boss fight (for example: you’ll first face the Dragon outside of Junoon Castle, and after that, the quest will update to the Tanta Sila boss fight).

Once you complete a repeat boss fight, you unlock the ability to repeat the fight as many times as you’d like.

This Detour offers a fun way to play through the main boss fights of the main campaign — some of the best combat encounters in the game — with the added benefit of having all four magic trees unlocked, offering some level of novelty to repeating these boss battles.

You can also use this as a proto new game plus, as it directs you along the same story path as the first play through — a suitable NG+ for now, since the game currently lacks the option. You can fast travel straight to the next boss fight, of course, but with the fun of traversal, and with so many treasures and discoveries likely left over from the campaign, it’s a perfect excuse to run through the regions again, mopping up collectibles along the way.
