How to maximize the effectiveness of Molduga Jaws in Tears of the Kingdom

Upon defeating the Molduga overworld boss in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you can earn one or two weapons as well as a variety of unique drops. One of these drops, the Molduga Jaw, boasts a base attack power of 32, about equal to that of the average silver monster horn. However, if you have the right setup, the Molduga Jaw can actually become one of the most powerful fusible monster parts in the game. Of course, you don’t need this even for the more difficult combat encounters, but if you nonetheless want to make the most out of Molduga Jaws in Tears of the Kingdom, then here’s how.

Tips for increasing Molduga Jaws’ power

One of the most important aspects of the Molduga Jaw has to do with its status as a bone material, which means that it works with the bone weapon proficiency modifier. Only two armor sets grant you this modifier when worn: the Radiant set and the Evil Spirit set.

You can easily purchase the Radiant Set from the clothing store in Kakariko Village, although you’ll want to finish The Gloom-Borne Illness quest to bring the prices down. Additionally, to unlock the bone weapon proficiency modifier for the Radiant set, you need to upgrade all three armor pieces twice. This requires a single Bokoblin Guts item, two Moblin Guts, 25 Luminous Stones, and 60 rupees for each piece of the set.

If you would rather use the Evil Spirit set, though, you will first have to unlock each armor piece by completing all three Lomei Labyrinth quests in the Hebra, Akkala, and Gerudo regions. Although you cannot upgrade the Evil Spirit set, it has the benefit of giving you the bone weapon proficiency buff right away.

With this buff active, weapons with a Molduga Jaw attached will receive a respectable boost in attack power. And by combining that with a strong weapon and a level three attack buff, which you can easily get by cooking five Mighty Bananas and eating the resulting meal, Molduga Jaws can tear through just about any boss in Tears of the Kingdom no matter their strength.
