Sandwiches are an important part of my life – although now I have to cut them off my diet – and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Not because you have a hunger meter or they help you restore health. Sandwiches act like item-buffs that will allow you to have certain bonuses when playing the game. Among these bonuses, having an increased chance of encountering Shiny Pokémon is perhaps one of the best ones in the game. And while in the base game we could focus our sandwich-making skill on looking for a specific type of Shiny, a new sandwich named the Academy Special All-Type Sparkling Sandwich is here to break the rules. I know, it’s a pretty long name. The good news is that you won’t need to collect ingredients. Say goodbye to the Herba Mystica grind! Just purchase it from the Blueberry Academy Cafeteria (Academy Grounds) for 150 BP (Blueberry Points).

Academy Special All-Type Sparkling Sandwich Effects

So what makes this a special sandwich? Well, there are several bonuses that we will describe in a bit, but the most important thing to know is that your odds of encountering every single type of Shiny Pokémon will increase as soon as you devour the Academy Special All-Type Sparkling Sandwich. This makes this one of the best sandwiches you will ever find in the game. Here is a rundown of what the sandwich exactly provides for your nutrition values. And by nutrition values, I mean in-game drop chances:

Egg Power level 1: Will increase the chance of finding eggs during a picnic.
Sparkling Power level 1: Will increase your chance of encountering Shiny Pokémon in the wild.
Catching Power level 2: Catching Pokémon will become easier.

As you can see, this opens up a lot of possibilities for Shiny Pokémon encounters. While the normal Sparkling Sandwiches will offer a better chance of finding Shinies, the fact that you don’t need to grind for Herba Mystica will make it a decent tradeoff. You can also use a Shiny Charm to further increase your Shiny Pokémon encounter chances. This is easier said than done since you will need to collect 400 Pokémon in the base game to get it, so that’s quite the journey.

In case you were wondering about the Blueberry Points, you can collect those by performing activities Blueberry Quests – or BBQs – that can be found across the Blueberry Academy Terrarium. These will vary in what you need to do but will grant you BP for finishing them.
