From the moment you kick off your new adventure in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, you will quickly encounter over twenty early-game Pokemon, one of which being Fletchling. While it may not be the most exciting Pokemon at first, Fletchling and its evolutions are a great addition to your party.
Fletchling is listed as a Normal and Flying-type Pokemon, but they also have fire attacks that they can gain through leveling and evolutions, making them an asset to your party. This guide will walk you through how to catch your first Fletchling and evolve it into the Fire-type Talonflame.
Catching A Fletchling
The easiest place to catch Fletchling is in the south Paldea area – Los Platos. In this area, you can find them in groups of 10 or more, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to get one. Head south of Mesagoza town to get to the area where they spawn. For any Fletchlings at level ten or under, you don’t have to take down their health to catch them. Simply enter the battle and immediately throw a standard Pokeball at them, and they’re sure to be yours.
If you do encounter one at a higher level, or one that resists immediate capture, hit them with weaker normal attacks to avoid KOing them in one hit. They are relatively weak, so an instant KO is easy to do. Once you get their health into the orange or red, you’ll be able to catch them with a normal Pokeball.
Evolving Fletchling
Once Fletchling reaches level 17 they will evolve into Fletchinder. The quickest way to evolve Fletchling into Fletchinder is by keeping them in your party. Wielding a combination of normal, flying, and fire attacks, Fletchinder is incredibly useful in taking down or capturing most Pokemon types, especially when it comes to the plant and bug-type Pokemon you encounter in the early game. Evolving to Fletchinder also unlocks more powerful moves like Flame Charge and Acrobatics.
Evolving Fletchinder
You can find Talonflame in the wild, but they can be very difficult to catch if you aren’t prepared. The easier way to acquire them is by evolving your Fletchinder. You can trigger the evolution starting at level 35. To get to that level the quickest way possible, make sure you keep Fletchinder in your party. And if you can, use them as your primary as much as possible, so they get the extra XP. Talonflame is a very powerful bird and fire-type Pokemon and deserves a regular spot in your party. Their evolution also comes with some even more advanced fire and bird-type moves that will keep your opponents on their toes.
