Mythical creatures are incredibly rich in detail and expertly crafted to give Kratos and Atreus a challenge to remember. While some boss fights are tied to the narrative and come with heavy story implications, others just spring up because you’re adventuring through the realms. If you’ve come across the fearsome Dreki and are having a tough time with the fight, you’ve come to the right place.

Dreki’s Stun Ability

One thing you’ll want to pay attention to is Dreki’s ability to inflict the shock status effect on Kratos and Atreus. The Dreki has several problematic attacks. The first one is an area of effect attack that surrounds the Dreki and shocks the ground and water around it. The second is a ranged attack that you can dodge with ease. The third attack is a stacking attack that can form a line of electricity in front of the Dreki.

When Dreki launches its electrified AOE attack, you should dodge and stay clear of the area. You can’t block these attacks using your shield.

If you get caught by the Dreki’s shock effects, you’ll be stunned for a couple of seconds, leaving you wide open to attack. If this happens, the Dreki will usually take a moment to close the gap and lay down some punishment. You want to avoid this as much as possible. In addition to avoiding direct attacks, be sure to avoid any electricity left behind by an attack as well.

Downing The Dreki

Aside from the Dreki’s status effects, you only have to worry about a fairly normal rotation of attacks. The Dreki’s tail swipes can often be parried by a well-timed shield block. One of the big things to note about this fight is Dreki’s speed. You’ll barely get a breath between attacks, making this a fight where you’re constantly blocking, dodging, or swinging your weapon without pause. If you happen to have enough Spartan Rage saved up, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to use it once the Dreki had worn down some of your health.

Yellow Ring

While fighting the Dreki, it will sometimes throw out a bite that has a yellow ring, meaning this attack will break your block and leave you vulnerable to being attacked again. It will also make a lunge that grabs Kratos and sends both of them rolling. Evading is the safest move here, but you can try to throw up a shield even though a yellow-ringed attack will break the block.

Red Ring

Some of the Dreki’s bites will come accompanied by a red ring, which means these are unblockable attacks. Don’t bother with the shield in these instances because the attack will tear through any of your defenses. The answer here is always to dodge out of the way if you can.
