Holly Willoughby is expected to return to This Morning on June 5 after an extended break from the ITV show after Phillip Schofield’s exit.

However, a PR expert has claimed the best thing to do is to step away from This Morning and look at a new role.

Speaking on GB News, Andy Barr claimed: “I think now’s the time to take a step away, have a bit of a break.

“She’ll be given another show by ITV, although Schofield’s proven that nobody’s bullet-proof.

“She is actually really loved. And I think she’ll get a new show out of this.

“She’ll go on to do really well. But I think that is probably away from This Morning.

“I don’t think she can carry on in its current format.”

Andy went on to claim the next two weeks are “really important” for Holly’s career.

“Tomorrow is going to be a key day, what will happen with the ITV share price?” he told hosts Ellie Costello and Martin Daubney.

Andy suggested the backlash against Phillip came after the queue-jumping scandal at the Queen’s funeral.

“Think that’s the time that the public really lost a bit of faith and also behind the scenes as allegations that for the first time both parties were kind of briefing against each other to the media by their various spokespeople,” he continued.

“So, I think that was the catalyst and I think that’s when the ITV bosses thought actually they might have lost the room here.

“We’re already seeing a load more tabloid allegations about what did Holly exactly know, when were things revealed? When did the investigation take place?”

On Saturday, Holly broke her silence on Phillip’s affair, slamming her former co-host for “lying” to her.

She wrote on Instagram: “It’s taken time to process yesterday’s news.

“When reports of this relationship first surfaced, I asked Phil directly if this was true and was told it was not.

“It’s been very hurtful to now find out that this was a lie. Holly.”

It came after Phillip admitted to having a “consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague at This Morning”.

He stated the “relationship was unwise, but not illegal” and “is now over”.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV from 10am.
