A Performance Mode set at 30fps will also be available.

The Wizarding World RPG Hogwarts Legacy will be able to support 60fps once it releases on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S next month, the developer has confirmed in a posting on Sunday. The game’s Fidelity Mode will offer the high frames-per-second rate, but it will also include “multiple graphical modes of play,” including a 30fps Performance Mode.

Also according to the announcement from Portkey Games Support, the two current-generation consoles will be able to take advantage of variable refresh rate (VRR) — a modern technology to ensure a smooth look to the graphical flow — through many of the game’s graphical modes. Any player wanting to take advantage of this feature will be required to have their console attached to a television or monitor that it compatible with VRR technology, however.

The news comes just a couple of days after the development studio released the PC requirements for Hogwarts Legacy, and the game seems to require some pretty hefty ones to run smoothly at 60 fps on PC, including a high-end processor and 85 GB of free space on the hard drive.

The PC version of the game is currently scheduled to release alongside the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions in just a few weeks, on February 10. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions were originally scheduled for release at the same time, but a mid-December update from the development team announced they would be delayed, and they are currently expected to arrive on April 4. That’s still a shorter wait than Nintendo Switch users have, as the game isn’t expected to launch on that platform until July 25, although its staggered release date had been announced well ahead of time.

Hogwarts Legacy was first announced in September 2020 during a PlayStation 5 showcase. The game will take place roughly a century before the event of the Harry Potter novels and movies, focusing instead on the growing tension between goblins and wizards with an almost entirely new cast of characters.
