Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut Will NOT Require a PSN Account to Play on PC

Due to the huge mess caused by the requirement of Sony to link a PSN account on Steam for Helldivers 2, the team responsible for the PC version of Ghost of Tsushima confirmed that the game can be enjoyed without a PlayStation account. However, if players do not connect to PSN, they will not be able to access the multiplayer mode.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut Will Require Linking PSN, But Only For The Legends Mode

Sucker Punch’s work contains two modes, either the campaign with Jin Sakai or the multiplayer format Legends where you can slash with friends. It will be the latter that will require linking our accounts on Steam with the Japanese company’s service, while the open world will be free of this requirement.

One of the most interesting additions that Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut will bring is the ability to use the PlayStation interface. This way, we can make use of a Friends list, Trophies, Settings, and a Profile, for which it is necessary to link with PlayStation Network. However, to play with PS5 and PS4 users, as well as to use voice chat, linking the platforms will also be required.

A reassuring message from Sucker Punch in light of the turbulence generated by Helldivers 2, which means players will also be able to enjoy the Iki Island expansion without any additional requests. The work will finally land in the Valve store and the Epic Games Store on May 16th.

In the case of Helldivers 2, Sony decided to backtrack on such a measure after seeing its negative impact. Besides causing many players to request refunds for their purchase, the mandatory linking also unleashed a wave of criticism that left the game with just a 38% rating at its lowest point on Steam.
