Introduced in Version 3.5, Caribert is a new Archon Quest in Genshin Impact featuring Dainsleif, a former knight captain of the Royal Guard in Khaenri’ah. He takes you on an adventure to Avidya Forest, where you’ll meet Eide.
Though Eide seems to not want anything to do with you at first, you soon learn of his family troubles and decide to help him in his search for a cure for his son. Before you can help him, though, you’ll need to find your way through a few puzzles.
Destined Encounter
To begin the quest, travel to Port Ormos to talk to Masrur. He will hand over a letter to you from Kaeya, requesting you to visit him at Djafar Tavern in Port Ormos to catch up. Before you travel to the tavern, you’ll want to change the clock to anytime from 16:00 to 18:00 the following day. Once you’ve done so, the tavern will be nearby to where you talked to Masrur.
When you arrive, Kaeya will chat with you about his current work and how he came to Sumeru to learn more about its drinks. Eventually, Dainsleif will arrive while you and Kaeya are talking about Khaenri’ah. He will reveal the origin of Kaeya’s surname, and his affiliation with the founder of the Abyss Order. After Kaeya leaves, you’ll continue your conversation with Dainsleif where he will mention he is investigating the Loom of Fate. You decide to all make your way to Avidya Forest to investigate further.
You’ll find the location to the forest just north of Gandharva Ville. Use the Spire of Solitary Enlightenment Domain, and then head south to reach the spot. Once you arrive at the small camp with Dainsleif, you’ll want to enter the house just above to investigate after talking for a bit. Inside, inspect the three spots in the house to learn more about who might have lived here.
Head outside and defeat the slimes, and then you’ll chat with Dainsleif again. He will head out to do some more investigating, while you’ll go over to the campsite and light the fire to make something to eat. After chatting for a while with Paimon, you’ll drift off to sleep.
Fortune-Mocking Pedigree
You’ll be woken up by Dainsleif, who will go back into the forest to investigate a bit more. Head back up to the house to search for Paimon, where you’ll meet an intimidating man. Head inside with him, and he will introduce himself as Eide and the hilichurl on the bed is his son, Caribert. He will then head outside to complete some errands, and you’ll follow along and meet him back at the campsite.
Here, Eide will tell you about his plan to create a medicine to help awaken his son. He will provide you with a mushroom, and will ask if you have some Kalpalata Lotuses and Sumeru Roses on hand. You will most likely already have these, but if not, you can pick up a few in the area. Then, you’ll want to synthesize the medicine for Caribert on the table next to you.
Return to Eide to hand over the medicine. You’ll need to visit the nearby Statue of The Seven, which is just south of your location. Use the Four-Leaf Sigils to reach this spot more easily. After visiting, head back to the house north of here to give the medicine to Caribert.
Since the first dose doesn’t seem to do the trick, Eide will ask you to pick up some water from the nearby waterfall. It will be south of the house, close to the Statue of The Seven you visited earlier. Reach the ground level, and pick up the water before returning to the campsite. Hand over the water, and Eide will water the field to create more mushrooms. While Eide is away, quickly defeat the fungus monsters that appear to protect the field.
Finally, a few more mushrooms will grow in the field, and you’ll want to pick them to create another medicine. Return to the table, and synthesize the medicine and give it to Eide. Return to the nearby Statue of The Seven you visited earlier to complete the process.
A Lamenter At Fate’s End
At the Statue of The Seven, you and Eide will notice a lone hilichurl walking away from the house. Follow the hilichurl to see where they are going, which will be east of the statue underneath a cliff side. Once you arrive, you’ll both discover that the hilichurl is not Caribert, but you’ll decide to head deeper into the cave to see what the hilichurl is doing. Head into the unknown sanctuary to explore more.
Inside, defeat the three kneeling hilichurls and then continue up the stairs. Defeat the last few hilichurls, and then make your way down the path on the left and head through the purple area.
Inside the next room, defeat the two slimes and head forward through the next purple gateway. Head up the stairs and turn right to reach the next room. Defeat the slimes at the top of the stairs, which will unlock the centerpiece. Grab the golden piece floating here, and then head back through the purple gateway. This will flip the room upside down, allowing you to grab the second golden piece just at the front.
Next, head up the staircase on the left side. At the top here will be an activation device that will open up a gate. Before heading back into the purple gateway, go to the center of the room to place the two golden pieces in the middle. Then, go through the purple gateway to flip the room again.
Once you return, go to the right and follow up the stairs to enter another purple gateway. On the other side will be the final golden piece, which you’ll want to pick up. Jump through the small opening in the room on the left to reach the middle of the room where you placed the last two golden pieces. Then, open the door and head down into the lower level.
An unknown enemy will arrive, referred to as the Fortune Lector. Defeat it using your best team against Cryo, and then go through the doorway and to the right afterward. At the end of the hall, there will be another activation device you’ll want to press to open the doors in front of you.
After exploring the area with Eide, you’ll both return to the house to administer the second dose of medicine to Caribert. This will successfully work, and Caribert will wake up and talk with his father for a while. After talking with Eide outside, he will leave to pay his respects to the ‘god’ he found in the cave.
Portended Fate
You’ll want to follow Eide into the cave you entered earlier, just south of the house. Make your way inside the unknown sanctuary, following the stairs to the middle of the room. Defeat the slimes inside here, and then continue forward and right into the next room.
There will be some more slimes in here you’ll want to defeat. Make your way to the end of the hallway, and press the activation device to open the door. You’ll find Eide in here, where you’ll both notice the ‘god’ is no longer there. Upon returning to the house, Caribert will have suddenly gone missing as well. Head outside with Eide to search for the missing child. Follow the dirt path northwest of the house, and get some information from the Forest Rangers you come into contact with. Then, continue north to find Caribert at the edge of a cliff.
Eide will attempt to get Caribert’s attention to no avail. A cutscene will then begin, with Caribert taking off his mask. You’ll wake up later and find Eide waiting for you in the house. He will reveal that his real name is Chlothar Alberich, and that Caribert will become the Loom of Fate. Another cutscene will occur, where you’ll finally be awoken by Dainsleif and Paimon. It is revealed that you were able to experience some of Chlothar’s memories while you were unconscious. You’ll then inspect the surrounding area, where you’ll find Chlothar’s remains. The quest will finally be completed once you part ways with Dainsleif.
