Fortnite challenges Chapter 3 Season 2 Week 9

0

Things are heating up as Fornite Chapter 3 Season 2 nears its climax. The doomsday device known as The Collider is up and running, and it’s up to you to help disable the IO and stop it from reducing the world to ashes. Of course, everyone else is going to be trying to do that too, so get ready for some tough fights as you run around completing this week’s challenges.

This week’s challenges are all about taking the fight to the IO, blowing their stuff up, and ruining their day. Even though the IO controls a small portion of the map now, you’re still going to have to cover a lot of ground to find the items and resources you need, but we can point you in the right direction.

Call in an Air Strike at The Collider or The Fortress

When there’s a big ominous building containing a doomsday device and all of your enemy’s supplies, there’s one method, tried and tested throughout history that will solve the problem. Blow it up. The Air Strike is a Legendary item, so it might take a little while to find, but once you’ve got one, all you need to do is throw it in The Collider or The Fortress – both of which are just north of Tilted Towers – and watch the fireworks.

Drive a Battle Bus or fly a Choppa to the Command Cavern

Fortnite Command Cavern

The Command Cavern is the centre of the IO’s operations, so driving/flying something big into there will likely cause the IO some problems. The main part of this challenge will be finding the vehicles in the first place, although, make sure you don’t get shot down as you approach, as the IO airship is still functional there.

Fortnite Battle Bus locations

There are three places where the Battle Bus can be found and driven, they are:

Condo Canyon.

Coney Crossroads.
Rocky Reels.

Fortnite Choppa locations

Thanks to successful funding earlier in the season, five Choppas are available at the following locations:

Seven Outpost 1 southwest of Greasy Grove.
Seven Outpost 2 northwest of Logjam Lumberyard.
Seven Outpost 3 northeast of The Daily Bugle.
Seven Outpost 4 south of Condo Canyon.
Seven Outpost 5 northwest of Camp Cuddle.

Emote at two different IO Airship crash sites

It’s important to take the time to celebrate the victories you’ve made along the way, and since the IO have been kicked out of almost every location on the map, now’s as good a time as any to go rub it in. With each location the resistance liberates the IO Airship hovering over it crashes, meaning there are some dotted all over the place.

IO Airship crash site locations

There are five crash sites on the map, some of which are easier to get to than others.

In the lake between Tilted Towers and The Collider.
Across the road east of Rocky Reels.
Halfway between Coney Crossroads and Sanctuary.
In the ocean due east of The Daily Bugle.
In the ocean southeast of Condo Canyon.

Hit an enemy player with a Ranger Shotgun from over 50 meters

Fortnite Ranger Shotgun

Shotguns aren’t exactly known for their long-range shooting ability, but that’s what is being put to the test in this challenge. Ranger Shotguns can be found at any rarity tier, and thankfully the amount of damage you do doesn’t matter for this challenge, you just need the hit. Once you have someone in your sights, just stay calm and wait for your moment to strike. If you need some more general tips for shooting, check out our Fortnite beginner’s guide.

Repair a vehicle at Synapse Station or Chonker’s Speedway

Fortnite Chonker's Speedway

Not everyone can be a gun-blazing hero in a war, some people need to stay away from the front lines and do the grunt work. It seems that this week the rota demands you put some time in working the shop, as plenty of vehicles need repair. You’ll have to find the Repair Torch item, then just use it on any damaged vehicle. You need to repair a total of 200 damage to complete the challenge, which shouldn’t take too long.

Shoot out tires on IO Vehicles

Fortnite Tank coming out off dropship

Where previous weeks’ challenges had you using Air Strikes to blow up the IO’s tanks, this week you just need to cause a bit of mischief. The IO isn’t covering as much of the map as they used to, so finding vehicles might be a bit of a tongue. That said, there are bound to be some as The Collider, The Fortress, or the Command Cavern, the only problem is those will be heavily guarded. Still, if you remain hidden (or bring enough firepower) those tired will be toast in no time.

Use an Ascender and deal damage to opponents within 30 seconds

Fortnite Ascender

When you need to get from a low place to a high place in a hurry, there are plenty of routes to take, but the simplest is the Ascender. There are loads of Ascenders all over the map, going to any location with elevated terrain will give immediate results. However, if you want a location where there are more likely to be people to shoot, the best place to look is at the one remaining IO Airship currently hovering over the Command Cavern.

How to use an Ascender in Fortnite

Ascenders are like vertical zip-lines. A length of wire will be hanging off a high place, and you can run up, interact with it, and zoom up to the top. Once you’ve done that, all you need to do is quickly find an enemy and blast them away.
