Blizzard has released a new trailer for Diablo IV ahead of its launch on June 6, featuring epic live-action scenes directed by Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao. The trailer is titled “Saviors Wanted,” and features the NPCs of the Diablo universe calling out to the protagonist (or rather, the player) for help.
“Working with Blizzard, we had the wonderful opportunity to bring the dark, thrilling and imaginative world of Diablo IV to life,” Zhao said of her work on the trailer. “Diablo fans are very passionate, and many have been with the game for over two decades. We want to do right by the fans, honor the game’s rich lores and visceral world building while evoking the strong emotions the players feel while immersing in the game.”
The trailer intersperses cries for help from the besieged inhabitants of Sanctuary with epic shots of heroes doing their best to fight off hordes of horrific monsters. It closes out with a shot of Lilith, the Blessed Mother, that’ll make you wish there was more to the live-action Diablo universe.
As well as playing across social media, you may catch Saviors Wanted on broadcast TV, with the trailer rolling out in over 20 countries as of today.
Diablo 4 comes out on June 6 for PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Blizzard recently detailed the accessibility options you’ll be able to use in-game, and also announced a Diablo 4 launch event that’ll run in its spin-off title Diablo Immortal.
