It’s no surprise that the Danganronpa series has a unique cast of characters. Each one has their quirks that make them either extremely lovable or just downright creepy. In this case, we’re going to be looking at the characters that radiate nothing but positive energy and chill vibes.
Essentially, you wouldn’t mind spending time with them in the real world. This ranges from characters present in the mainline games including Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, and Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony. No spoilers whatsoever will be present, so don’t be afraid to read on. If anything, it gives you an introduction to the characters.
10/10 Tenko Chabashira
You might be surprised that we’re starting things off with Tenko Chabashira. Tenko is a girl that isn’t afraid of showing her emotions and being blunt when needed. She puts all of her energy into Neo Aikido as a stress and anxiety reliever. She’s willing to go to bat for anybody that isn’t a boy and will defend them as much as possible.
Tenko’s hatred for boys is due to her past teachings, but even so, there are moments when she doesn’t know why she hates them. Because of this, she takes a liking to Shuichi Saihara and Gonta Gokuhara allowing her to understand them a bit better. We all need someone that’s going to be brutally honest with us in our corner.
9/10 Chihiro Fujisaki
Chihiro Fujisaki is someone that you would want to protect as much as possible. Not only is Chihiro extremely talented, fitting their title of the Ultimate Programmer, but they are also very shy as well. Being someone who is a victim of bullying, Fujisaki makes it their goal to be stronger and to not seem “weak around others”.
Fujisaki is one of the kindest characters in the Danganronpa series and would make a great friend. Having someone around you that just radiates positive and wholesome energy is needed, especially in the world we live in today. Plus everyone needs a smart friend in their group.
8/10 Sakura Ogami
If you want someone in your friend group that rationally thinks situations through and is level-headed, then you want Sakura Ogami in your corner. Not only is Sakura extremely strong, but she wants to be known as the “Strongest Person Alive”. Despite her appearance, Sakura is a genuine sweetheart that wants to make friends but struggles to do so.
During the killing game, she shows how loyal she is to her classmates, and will do whatever it takes to keep them safe. Having someone like her on your side is reassuring. Since she spends the majority of her time training, it’s also a perfect opportunity to show her new things.
7/10 Aoi Asahina
Aoi Asahina is a cheerful, athletic, and ditzy airhead at times. In other words, who wouldn’t want to be friends with her? Despite what the killing game may throw at her, she always tries to find the bright side of every given situation regardless of how hard it may be. Her resorting to exercising and her friends is what keeps her going.
No matter how down you may be you can rely on Aoi being right there with you. She has that “leave no man/woman behind” attitude which is extremely comforting. Think of her as your own personal guardian angel.
6/10 Gundham Tanaka
It’s hard to not find enjoyment whenever Gundham Tanaka opens his mouth. While it’s never confirmed, it’s likely that he is a chuunibyou. A lot of the time Gundham looks down on others and claims to be a superior being, though nobody takes him seriously. However, Gundham comes off as more goofy than serious.
There are plenty of moments where he actually comes off as a misunderstood sweetheart, especially when talking to Sonia Nevermind and to his animals. If anything he comes off more as“chaotic good” than anything. Having him by your side ensures that’ll you’ll never encounter a dull moment.
5/10 Chiaki Nanami
Everybody wants to have that one friend that always down to play some games with you no matter what time it is. Chiaki Nanami is the girl just to do that. With her being the Ultimate Gamer, you’re going to have to go all out if you want even the slightest possibility to even beat her.
Even though she lacks basic knowledge outside of gaming, during the trials while she is very analytical in understanding the given situation. Because of this, she’s not afraid to get serious when people’s lives are at stake. Not only can she be fun to be around, but she’s also reliable when you’re in a pinch.
4/10 Kaito Momota
If there were to be a Danganronpa character that was to be characterized as an absolute “Bro”, then that would have to go to Kaito Momota. Kaito himself as a character may seem annoying to some at times, but to others, he’s actually extremely supportive, especially to Shuichi.
His loyalty and kind-hearted nature are what carry him throughout the killing game making him stand out among the V3 cast. Having a friend like Kaito by your side is enough to encourage you to try your best in anything that you do. If you fall and need some help, you can expect him to be by your side to pick you back up.
3/10 Kaede Akamatsu
Kaede Akamatsu is a character that puts others before herself. She’s not quick to pin the blame upon others and uses logical thinking to find answers. She’s kind, sweet, and optimistic regardless of the situation. She uses her talent as the Ultimate Pianist to bring joy to others and see them smile.
Compared to other protagonists in the Danganronpa series, she’s the most active among the cast in putting herself out there right from the start. She can go from being silly to serious in an instant. Having Kaede with you is comforting as she makes it feel as though nothing can go wrong with her around.
2/10 Miu Iruma
With her golden brain and beautiful looks, Miu Iruma never has a dull moment. Her personality shows with every sentence she says, and it doesn’t take long to figure out what type of person she is. She’s always insulting people and slings vulgar remarks whenever she gets the chance, which can be funny at times.
However, this is all a front since as soon as she is ignored or if someone claps back at her, she gets shy and scared easily. Her behavior can likely lead back to her having social issues. There’s even a moment where K1-B0 states that she is a good, caring, and innocent person in reality. Sounds like she just really wants to make friends and be accepted.
1/10 Ibuki Mioda
Out of the entire series, Ibuki Mioda is the most carefree, energetic, and bizarre character to be involved in the killing game. She even has a habit of breaking the fourth wall and making iconic references. She’s all about living in the moment and entertaining everyone as much as possible.
Throughout her free time events, she makes it clear that she wants to help Hajime Hinata find himself showing how much of a caring person she is. While her methods may be unorthodox and unique, Ibuki is a bundle of joy that everyone would be lucky to know.
