Chicago PD sneak peek teases Atwater’s explosive death in finale promo | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

NBC’s gripping procedural drama Chicago PD returned to screens on Wednesday with another thrilling instalment.

This time Officer Dante Torres’ (played by Benjamin Levy Aguilar) personal life was thrust into the spotlight after a mysterious death threatened to expose his hidden past.

Although he tried to hide his connection to the victim Juan Ariza (Fidel Vicioso), his boss Sergeant Voight (Jason Beghe) knew something was amiss.

While they did get to the bottom of his connection, viewers were left in fear after the show aired its promo which sparked concern about Officer Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce C Hawkins).

In the clip, Voight could be heard saying: “This man is preaching hate and he’s going to act on it today.”

As the clip cut to the officers approaching a location with their guns drawn, Officer Adam Ruzek (Patrick Flueger) warned: “Hundreds of people are going to die.”

While Voight shouted: “Go, go go,” Atwater led the team towards the house just as it abruptly exploded.

The next scene showed the beloved officer laying face down on the ground seemingly unconscious with the remains of the house of fire behind him.

As the promo hints at a cliffhanger ending and potential death for Atwater, viewers responded in the comments with fear.

A nervous @mollyk1996 warned on Twitter: “Kev better not die.”

@CindyLou8181 echoed: “Nothing better happen to my man. I’m already overly emotional. Don’t fuck with my Kevin.”

A third fan @thingthatworks added: “STAY WITH ME KEVIN???????”

While @firebonesmack pleaded: “Come on Now. Don’t let my Boy Atwater be(get) Hurt.”

@notyra2compare tweeted: “Please tell me that wasn’t Atwater lying facedown after an explosion.”

As @tracyscpd demanded: “D**N. NO. stay with us, Kev!”

As well as Atwater’s uncertain fate, Chicago PD gave fans more insight into the episode with a synopsis: “As Richard Beck’s timeline for a deadly attack moves up and Samantha panics, Ruzek and the team scramble to get ahead of unprecedented disaster.”
Thankfully for fans, there will be more from the show as Chicago PD was renewed for another season.

Chicago PD season 10 concludes Wednesday on NBC in the USA.
