Warzone 2 has finally been released with the launch of Modern Warfare 2 Season 1. Players can now drop into Al Mazrah either as a team or solo and battle it out with other players until last man (or team) standing. This new iteration of the popular Battle Royale mode features changes to the looting system, a brand-new Gulag, and a whole new map featuring classic maps — like Highrise and Dome — as POIs. However, changes to the game’s loadout system may leave players confused about how they can get their Custom Loadouts.
Obtaining your loadout within Warzone 2 is quite different from its predecessor. This time around, players can’t rack up enough cash to buy a loadout drop and obtain the best weapons. In fact, the steps they need to take can sometimes be much more complicated. As of Season 1, there are three main methods to obtain your Custom Loadout within Warzone 2, one of which will require a bit of effort to accomplish.
Completing Strongholds
The first and fastest way to obtain a Custom Loadout in Warzone 2 is to complete a Stronghold. Strongholds are AI-invested areas on the map that require you to complete certain objectives. These objectives can range from clearing the Stonghold of AI enemies to defusing a bomb in the area. Once you have completed the required objective, you will be given access to a Supply Crate which allows you to choose one of your Custom Loadouts.
There are 77 possible Stronghold locations, but only 3 are available within a game of Battle Royale. These areas are also pretty easy to find, as they will be marked on your map at the end of the first circle. Black Sites are another in-game event very similar to Strongholds. They are much more difficult to complete, but doing so can reward you with permanent Weapon Blueprints and high-tier loot.
Loadout Drops
The second way to obtain your custom loadout is through Loadout Drops. During a match of Battle Royale, loadout drops will begin to drop onto random locations on the Warzone 2 map. However, unlike the previous Loadout Drops present in Warzone, these can be accessed by any player on the map and are not available for purchase via the Buy Station. Looting a Loadout Drop is one of the easiest ways to obtain one of your Custom Loadouts, but you will have to wait until the third circle for them to drop.
Much like Strongholds, Loadout Drop locations will be marked both on your HUD and your mini-map. If you decide to push one, be on the lookout for enemy players — they might also be looking to obtain their own loadouts.
Purchase Through Buy Stations
The last method to obtain your Custom Loadout is through purchase at the Buy Station. Go ahead and locate a Buy Station — which will be marked on your map — access it, and navigate over to the Buy Primary Weapons tab. Here, you can buy a Primary Weapon (with attachments) from any one of your available Custom Loadouts for $5000 each. Unlike the previous two methods, you cannot obtain your full loadout this way, meaning that you can get your Primary weapons but not your Perks, Secondaries, or Equipment.
