So this raises the question: is Vantage deserving of all the hype? This guide aims to answer that question, and in the process rank every available character in the game. In an attempt to keep the ranking as fair as possible, every Legend will be ranked based on their intended purpose of either offense, defense, support, or recon. Keep in mind that this is also assuming the player is of around an average skill level.

Seer

Seer might just be the best legend currently in the game. His loadout consists of what are basically wall hacks, and he can be used effectively by players of any skill-level.

Although, what currently makes him the most overpowered might just be his passive. The ability to detect exactly where enemies are while they have no clue of your existence is incalculably valuable.

Octane

Let’s be real, Octane mains get a bad rap for being obnoxious loot thieves, but Octane is currently one of the most viable Legends in Apex. Octane’s loadout is extremely viable for both aggressive and passive players, with insane team support. Plus, the benefit of having passive health regeneration can not be emphasized enough.

Horizon

Another Legend with an insane capacity for utility in every scenario is Horizon. Her tactical can be used for pushes, escapes, and even blocking of doorways! On top of all that, her ultimate is basically a free kill if you’ve got a couple arc-stars handy.

Valkyrie

Even after her season 14 nerf, Valkyrie remains a force to be reckoned with. Funnily enough, the recent increase in storm damage has made her even more useful, as her ultimate often becomes a saving grace from the storm. For those who love movement-based legends, Valkyrie might just be the most efficient one in the game.

Vantage

The newest Legend in the Apex games, Vantage, is a welcomed addition. She is perhaps in the most balanced state that any new character has ever launched in! Her sniper ultimate makes hitting your mark extremely easy, and for those who can hit those pesky follow-ups, Vantage is going to allow for some of the fastest kill times in the game.

Pathfinder

A fan-favorite since day one, Pathfinder excels in movement. A player who has really figured out the mechanics of Pathfinder will discover that he is viable in all scenarios. Pushing enemies, escaping fights, and seeking better positioning will be made easy with Pathfinder. Plus, his zipline makes him one of the best team-rotating legends on the roster.

Mad-Maggie

One of the most underrated Legends in the game is Mad-Maggie. Her massive buff seems to have gone under the radar entirely. If you find yourself camping inside a building with a Mad-Maggie outside, you’re in some serious danger. Her tactical can make any cover an instant hazard, and her devastating ultimate will completely knock out any traps you have set up.

Ash

Ash is perhaps the greatest Legend when it comes to rotating her team. Both rapid and 100% safe, Ash’s ultimate will grant her and her teammates the advantage in any fight in an instant. Don’t forget to use her tactical on enemies whether they are running away or chasing you, as it will truly throw a wrench in their plans. Just be mindful of scanning those deathboxes, as doing so will also alert the enemy team of your presence.

Bloodhound

Since the launch of Apex, Bloodhound has remained in an extremely balanced state. Unfortunately, the launch of Seer meant that Bloodhound’s tactical and passive had more effective counterparts. However, the viability of Bloodhound’s ultimate cannot be overstated. Any Apex veteran will agree that hearing the sound-cue of Bloodhound’s ultimate being activated strikes fear in the enemy team.

Wraith

Wraith is popular among the pros for a reason: her versatility is unrivaled. When utilized correctly, Wraith easily makes the jump to S-tier. This, however, takes hundreds of hours of playtime as her, and the average player is not going to have that. That is not to say though that even a beginner cannot make her a force to be reckoned with. Her portals make for some hilarious and impressive plays, while her passive can be the difference between an ambush and a fair fight for her team.

Lifeline

Everyone loves lifeline. While her ultimate is nothing too special, her tactical and passive are perhaps the best support abilities on the roster right now. She may just be the best team player in the entire game.

Revenant

A truly terrifying opponent to go up against is Revenant. While his tactical and ultimate may need a bit of tweaking, Revenant easily makes up for it in his passive. The ability to silently scale even the tallest buildings in the game makes him the king of flanks.

Fuse

Fuse may not be the best in terms of versatility, but his highly offensive loadout is remarkable. Every single ability he has is very solid, and catching enemies inside his ultimate makes for some ridiculously easy kills. Don’t underestimate the damage output of the knuckle clusters!

Bangalore

While not as popular as she once was, Bangalore is still a pretty great Legend overall. The speed boost given by her passive is very noticeable, and her smoke grenades can be a real life-saver. The real star of the show is her ultimate, which will spontaneously send enemies running for the hills.

Caustic

Another classic Legend, Caustic, is in a pretty decent place at the moment. Truthfully, his ultimate could use a bit of a buff. However, the effectiveness of his tactical simply cannot be overstated. If you ever find yourself trapped in a room with a Caustic outside you are in serious danger.

NewCastle

Whatever NewCastle lacks in terms of an ultimate, he makes up for in everything else. NewCastle’s tactical is unreasonably powerful in the right hands, and his passive revive rivals even Lifelines! Just remember that he shouldn’t really be run in duos.

Wattson

Wattson is sadly in a bit of a rough patch right now. That is not to say she isn’t viable, because that is certainly not the case. Her fences are very annoying for an enemy team trying to push a building! Plus, having a machine that can directly counter grenades and gradually regenerate shields is always appreciated.

Loba

Loba is in a very rough spot at the moment, and in fact barely even meets the requirements for being in C-Tier. Her tactical takes far too long to activate while her ultimate and passive both become fairly worthless late game. Although, during the first half of the match, the ability to instantly grab any loot you could want is pretty dang nice.

Gibraltar

Gibraltar’s passive is what makes him the most viable at the moment, as his ultimate is pretty underwhelming. Air strikes are a common thing in Apex, and Gibraltar’s seems to be the least effective. Not to mention his tactical, while useful in open fields, doesn’t do much for his team in close-quarters situations.

Rampart

Rampart is really dangerous when she has both her ultimate and the high ground. Her passive however is nothing to gawk at. While Rampart’s tactical does its job pretty well, it just isn’t as effective as it was when Rampart first launched due to numerous Legends that now counter it.

Crypto

Crypto has never been a good legend. His Ultimate is far too weak and his passive is practically non-existent. While his tactical can be useful situationally, it also leaves Crypto entirely too vulnerable. For the time being, it is best to avoid using Crypto.

Mirage

Sadly, a once-beloved legend is now almost obsolete. Mirage’s tactical decoy is very obvious to anyone of average skill, and while it can be daunting, his ultimate is only confusing for the first few seconds. A re-work to Mirage would be warmly welcomed by the community at this point.
