The trailer for Apex Legends: Saviours features a very cool concept – a massive monster has invaded the city and only the legends can stop it.
Unfortunately, that’s all the monster fighting you’re going to get. We’d love to have got a map where the beast was still active, where you could be shooting another player in the face one minute then dodging a giant fist the next. Still, we’re not going to turn our nose up at a new hero, which is where Newcastle comes in.
The trailer shows Newcastle in action, as well as footage of the fallen beast. With his shield and armour, he reminds us of Jimmy Olsen’s Guardian, as featured in the CW’s Supergirl series. It shows him blasting away at plenty of enemies but there’s also footage of him using his shield defensively, a move we’re eager to meddle with.

Newcastle aside, the Saviors update also features a reworked Storm Point map, which sees you fighting your way around the fallen kaiju’s corpse. The map also features new IMC Armories, giving you an additional opportunity to arm up against your foes though, given that Apex Legends rewards teamwork, it’s worth sharing.
The Saviors update, like Apex Legends itself, is free and will arrive this May 10 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
