Apex Legends Mobile-exclusive character: Fade abilities breakdown

Apex Legends Mobile is finally launching worldwide, and the most surprising part of the package for Apex fans is the brand new mobile-exclusive Legend, Fade. Fade is a tactical Legend with a variety of abilities brand new to the Apex Games, and will therefore be able to bamboozle even seasoned Apex players – if you don’t know what to expect, that is.

In this guide we break down each of Fade’s abilities, so when you come across a Fade player you’ll know exactly what to expect and how to react to each of his unique abilities and tactics. Just read down below for everything you need to know about Fade, and make sure to read our Apex Legends Mobile tips and review

Fade Passive Ability, Surge – Apex Legends Mobile

Fade’s first ability is passive, meaning you don’t have to do anything to activate it. Surge activates whenever Fade starts sliding. This will give him a burst of speed – making bunny hopping even more viable, as mentioned in our Apex Legends Mobile tips – but will also leave after-images, meaning enemies will get a better idea of where you’re moving to.

In the hands of a skilled player, this technique – and the after images – could be used to distract an enemy team while your allies flank them.

Fade Tactical Ability, Flash Back – Apex Legends Mobile

This tactical ability needs to be activated manually and should be very familiar to Overwatch players. Flash Back reverses Fade’s movements – the last 60m worth. That means you could, potentially, jump off a cliff and then rewind back to safety to fake out an enemy, or run ahead of your team and then quickly return to them if things go bad.

An ability like this has obvious uses in battle, if only so you can retreat and heal.

Fade Ultimate Ability, Phase Chamber – Apex Legends Mobile

Fade’s chargeable ultimate ability, Phase Chamber, is like a phase grenade. Fade will pull an activator core from his suit and throw it, which will end in an explosion. Every playable character within the explosion radius will phase for a few seconds, meaning they can’t deal damage or take any. This is an interesting ability that can be used to halt the fight momentarily, allowing players to take cover or reposition without worrying.

This can be used on your team offensively, allowing you to phase, push up through a combat-heavy area, and then appear ready to fight. Or you can be defensive about it, just as with Wraith’s tactical ability, phasing so you can retreat just as the fight gets bad.
