Alan Wake 2 has enjoyed widespread critical acclaim and raked in the accolades since its launch in late October, but with the long-awaited survival horror sequel not having charted in October or November’s sales charts for the United States, and there having been no word from developer Remedy Entertainment or publisher Epic Games about how the game is selling, many have wondered whether its critical success has been reflected in its commercial performance as well.

As per the latest estimates, it actually seems to be doing alright, even if it doesn’t seem to be setting the world on fire. As per industry analyst Piers Harding-Rolls of Ampere Analysis, as of the end of November, Alan Wake 2 has sold around 850,000 units on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. There’s no word yet on how much it has sold on PC, where it is exclusive to the Epic Games Store, but presumably, it will have crossed the 1 million mark when PC sales are taken into account.

As per Harding-Rolls, price reductions (of which it’s already had a couple) and potential inclusion in subscription services at some point should help generate further interest in Alan Wake 2 down the line. Interestingly, it also looks like the sequel’s launch resulted in a “decent” sales boost for Alan Wake Remastered in the months of October and November.

Remedy Entertainment recently released a New Game Plus update for Alan Wake 2, while the studio is also working on two expansions that are due out in 2024.
