On Thursday morning, EA Sports officially, and finally, gave college football fans the news they’ve been waiting on for years: College Football is back.

The video game giant will release a new title for the first time since EA Sports NCAA Football 14 a decade ago and dropped a teaser to prove it. We should be expecting more details in May and the game is likely to go live this summer.

No more statements, no more promises, no more rumors. It’s happening.

The only question remaining is the one we’re most used to asking: Who is going to grace the cover? We’ve handicapped plenty of options.

The reigning Heisman Trophy winner is the obvious choice here. Too obvious? Maybe. But you can’t go wrong with this pick.

Quinn Ewers (+230)

With NIL changing the rules on cover athletes, we might see an active player get the nod. Considering Texas is (officially) back, 2024 Heisman favorite would be a worthy selection for the cover.

Jalen Milroe (+245)

A duel-threat QB who improved as much as any player in college football last year. If Ewers isn’t the pick among the active players, look for Milroe to get the nod.

J.J. McCarthy (+300)

That the quarterback of the 2024 national champs is this far down the list tells you how many excellent candidates there are this year.

Nick Saban (+450)

One of the greatest college football coaches ever just retired. Is it too soon to give him the video game treatment? Maybe not considering this series started out as Bill Walsh College Football with the coach serving as the cover star.

Marvin Harrison Jr. (+600)

There’s no shortage of spectacular catches to choose from as a cover image if EA Sports wants to go with the Ohio State star.

Caleb Williams (+650)

Jason Parkhurst-USA TODAY Sports

A recent Heisman winner and very likely the No. 1 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. Even if the USC Trojans didn’t have the best season overall, Williams delivered in 2023.

Bo Nix (+1000)

Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA

A prolific passer who is likely headed for stardom in the NFL after torching defenses all season long in the Pac-12. But probably not the best choice here given the other options.

Jim Harbaugh (+5000)

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Khakis on the cover!? Harbaugh’s got a better chance of gracing the next Madden game.
