The Kingdom Hearts series has a lot of different types of Keyblades and while in the other games a lot of them kept the same basic attack pattern, Kingdom Hearts 3 changes that. In Kingdom Hearts 3 Keyblades have form changes. Those form changes make it so that the appearance of the Keyblade completely changes along with the attack pattern that pertains to it.

10 Mirage Staff – Ever After

The Mirage Staff is the Ever After Keyblade form change. It’s perfect at unloading big magic damage on enemies that are bigger as a lot of the magic attacks that the staff provides can pierce through most enemy armor. One of the coolest parts of the staff is the ability to create a clone of Sora that will also begin to shoot projectiles at enemies.

The movement is also really nice and reminds me of a Drive change that Sora had in Kingdom Hearts 2 that makes him feel as though he’s floating with every movement. It’s one of the better early-form changes to unlock.

9 Nano Arms – Nano Gear

The Nano Arms form change is part of the Nano Gear Keyblade and it has a lot of attacks that are reminiscent of those of other Keyblade attacks, but it’s the hodgepodge of these attacks that make it interesting as it seems to have a lot of variety to itself. The attacks also get new graphical updates as they come from the Keyblade using the technology inside of it to create those attacks.

The shot lock is a copy of the Twin Yo Yo shot lock, but it looks a lot better with the design that this Keyblade Brings in as it’s a lot darker and digitized. The Keyblade doesn’t bring anything in that’s too interesting though and because of that falls somewhat short in comparison to others.

8 Rage Form

Rage form is a Keyblade transformation or form change that can be done using any Keyblade with Sora. This form change is really fun as it allows players to gain a second chance to come back in damage and deal big damage. Players are also able to trade their experience for a boost in strength if they trust in themselves enough to not use this to their detriment.

This form embodies chaos as all of his movements seem to be sporadic and take up a large amount of space. If players are not careful in this form it can quickly lead to an untimely demise.

7 Honey Guns/ Honey Launcher – Honey Spout

The Honey Spout Keyblade includes the Honey Guns and Honey Launcher form changes which are some of the most enjoyable to use as they provide a change in the way that magic is used to be released as ammo for each of the respective weapons. If players choose to use the guns they attack a lot quicker but do less damage whereas the launcher works like a rocket launcher and does massive damage to enemies, but the weapon is a lot slower.

The honey effect is also really nice as when enemies are hit with this form change it will make them a lot slower than they were previously. Aesthetically, the weapon is extremely cute hiding its powerful blows.

6 Highwind /Storm Flag – Wheel Of Fate

The Wheel of Fate Keyblade has 2 form changes. The Highwind form change works like a spear-type weapon that will lunge Sora at his attackers if he is far away. His Highwind combo finisher is also incredible as Sora will do a forward spear thrust and then summon clones of the spear to do the same attack which turns it into an area of effect type of attack. The Storm Flag transformation’s also really astonishing as it will have Sora turning his Keyblade into a flag-type weapon.

The finisher for the form change is astounding as Sora will slam the flag into the ground below him and summon the tentacles from the Kraken to do damage against his enemies by slamming around the point that they were summoned.

5 Second Form – Kingdom Key/Starlight

This is the Kingdom Key, Starlight, or any of the pre-ordered DLC Keyblades’ form change called Second Form. One of the best parts of this form is the throwback to Kingdom Hearts 2 as Sora’s outfit will change to the one he had in Kingdom Hearts 2 when he activates this form change. The nostalgia factor of being able to see a part of Kingdom Hearts 2 brought to life is great for fans of the series.

The ancient light finisher from the Starlight variation of Second Form is also really neat to look at as it summons 5 pillars of light that burst into a ball of darkness flowing with Keyblades.

4 Blizzard Claws/ Blizzard Blades – Crystal Snow

The Blizzard Claws and Blizzard Blades are weapons that look to be made of ice which makes sense as they belong to the Crystal Snow Keyblade in the Frozen world. Every part of this form change is really fun as the aerial combat feels fast and fluid as Sora teleport to their location. The player also has ice skates that makes movement feel exactly like ice skating but done by someone who knows what they’re doing not those of us who’d fall flat on our faces.

The finisher is gorgeous to watch build up as it creates a chandelier-like structure that then slams onto the floor and releases giant shards of ice onto the enemies below and surrounding it.

3 Agile Claws/Twin Yo-Yo’s – Happy Gear

The Happy Gear Keyblade is received after the player goes through the Monsters Inc. world and honestly the Twin Yo Yo form change that comes right after the Agile Claws change is one of the most fun to use. The player can control two giant yo-yo’s with saw blades protruding out of them. It feels like the perfect weapon for an anime character and something that could be a standalone weapon in a video game.

The movement with them feels wonderful as if any enemy is too far away the yo-yo will latch onto that enemy and send Sora flying its way.

2 Frying Pan – Grand Chef

This Grand Chef Keyblade has a deep emphasis on magic that’s amplified by its Frying Pan form change. The Keyblade can be pretty difficult to get as players will need to get an excellent on all the cooking challenges to unlock it, but it is worth unlocking. The form change has it turning into a floating frying pan that’s on fire with its form change and grows bigger when it attacks.

The finisher makes the frying pan turn huge and Sora will slam it into the ground creating a fire imprint on the floor where the pan has slammed into. It’s the weirdest form change in the game but hard to not adore it because of this.

1 Ultimate Form – Ultima Weapon Keyblade

The Ultimate Form is used with the ultima Weapon Keyblade and is by far the prettiest and most powerful form that the game has to offer players. The form looks a lot like his Final Form Drive in Kingdom Hearts 2 though his pants seem to have some sort of tiger print this time around.

The best part about this form is that a lot of its attacks summon other Keyblades that will also do area-of-effect attacks. All the attacks feel flashy and large because of this. Also, the weapons that appear are randomized which makes them feel as though they are being summoned from the Keyblade graveyard to aid Sora in his battle. His finishing move is also magical to witness as blades rain down onto Sora, and he flings them at enemies around him.
