Elden Ring offers its players an amazing selection of weapons, spells, incantations, abilities, and more for them to utilize in creating their ideal character build. For those players who build around Faith, Arcane, and/or Intelligence, Incantations may be a main aspect of their build. Simply put, Incantations are powers that the player can perform using a seal.
One type of Incantation is easily more desirable than others, not only because of how powerful the spells can be, but because they’re among the coolest Incantations in Elden Ring. These Incantations are Dragon Incantations, which the player can learn by slaying dragons and using their hearts at the Cathedral of Dragon Communion in Caelid.
10 Smarag’s Glintstone Breath
Smarag’s Glintstone Breath deals massive magic damage against the foes that fall within its vicinity. Smarag’s Glintstone Breath does 18% more damage than its Glintstone Breath counterpart, and it also has a longer range while falling short on its narrow spread.
This Incantation can even be cast while hovering in midair, so it makes for some interesting interactions with invaders. To obtain this Incantation, players must defeat Smarag and purchase the Incantation for two Dragon Hearts at the Dragon Communion Altar.
9 Ekzyke’s Decay
Ekzyke is one of the hardest dragon bosses in Elden Ring, and players who dare to take on the optional boss can find the beast in the dangerous land of Caelid. Ekzyke’s Decay deals more damage than its counterpart, but its most important aspect is that it has a longer reach than Rotten Breath.
Ekzyke’s Decay inflicts Scarlet Rot, which is arguably a more dangerous form of poison. Players can obtain this Incantation by using two Dragon Hearts to buy it at the Dragon Communion Altar after defeating Ekzyke
8 Borealis’ Mist
Players may recognize the name Borealis from one of the more difficult dragon bosses in Elden Ring. Unlike some other Dragon Communion Incantations, Borealis’ Mist can actually be cast in midair, essentially making the player hover in the sky like a dragon would.
Borealis’ Mist can be extended while dealing magic damage and inflicting the frostbite affliction on its victims. For players who wish to obtain Borealis’ Mist, they can do so by defeating Borealis the Freezing Fog and purchasing the Incantation for two Dragon Hearts.
7 Dragonclaw
Dragonclaw is simply one of the coolest looking Incantation in the game and easily one of the cooler Dragon Incantations. Dragonclaw turns the player’s arm into a giant dragon hand and slams it down. This can be cast twice in the same occurrence.
Dragonclaw is excellent for dealing stamina damage and breaking an enemy’s poise. Not only is the Incantation great for taking out a single enemy, but Dragonclaw is wonderful at handling hordes in PvE. Dragonclaw can be purchased for one Dragon Heart at the Dragon Communion Altar.
6 Agheel’s Flame
There are two versions of flame-breathing Dragon Incantations, but Agheel’s Flame is the better one rather than its basic counterpart. Agheel’s Flame may have a long start-up, but the incantation deals 18% more damage than its counterpart.
Not only that, but the flame-breath has a wider range than its counterpart, allowing it to hit foes who fall victim to panic rolling in Elden Ring. In order to obtain Agheel’s Flame, players will have to defeat Flying Dragon Agheel and purchase the Incantation with two hearts at the dragon Communion Altar.
5 Greyoll’s Roar
Greyoll’s Roar is a legendary Incantation that many players may have unknowingly unlocked after killing Greyoll for the massive reward of runes in early-game Elden Ring. Greyoll’s Roar simply turns the player into a scary looking Greyoll in order to emit a thundering roar towards opponents.
Doing so will inflict a major debuff to enemies’ attack and defense. Players seeking out Greyoll’s Roar will need to defeat the Elder Dragon Greyoll in Caelid and purchase the Incantation for three Dragon Hearts at the Dragon Communion Altar.
4 Theodoriz’s Magma
Fans of the Magma Breath Incantation will want to completely ditch the Incantation after obtaining Theodoriz’s Magma. This Incantation is far better than its counterpart, and so much so that rather than an 18% increase to damage, it has about 40% more to its damage increase.
Not only that, but this Incantation has a larger AoE with the magma pool. Players can even point in different directions to fire magma different ways while casting. To obtain this Incantation, players must defeat Theodoriz and purchase it for two Dragon Hearts at the Dragon Communion Altar.
3 Rotten Breath
The Rotten Breath Incantation is one of the more infamous Incantations in all of Elden Ring due to it inflicting Scarlet Rot upon enemies. Rotten Breath doesn’t deal as much damage as Ekzyke’s Decay, but Rotten Breath actually has a wider range, which is almost essential for PvP.
This Incantation is also used by beginners to cheese many bosses, like Radahn. To obtain Rotten Breath, players can purchase the Dragon Incantation from the Dragon Communion Altar for just one Dragon Heart.
2 Glintstone Breath
Glintstone is similar to Smarag’s variant, but with some minor differences.This spell does less damage, but it covers a wide range, which can destroy frantically rolling opponents. Glinstone Breath also can bounce off of objects and walls unlike some other dragon breath spells.
Glintstone Breath does pure magic damage, causing it to eat through certain player builds. To obtain Glintstone Breath, players will need one Dragon Heart and purchase the Incantation from the Dragon Communion Altar.
1 Dragonmaw
Fans of the Dragon Communion and their Incantations will certainly have a blast with the Dragonmaw. Dragonmaw can be acquired by simply using one Dragon Heart to purchase the Dragonmaw Incantation at the Dragon Communion Altar. This Incantation turns the player’s head into a dragon and bites at the enemy.
Dragonmaw is one of the best Dragon Incantations in Elden Ring because of its damage, hyper armor, and the ability to stagger enemies with great stamina damage. Not only that, but Dragonmaw just looks insanely cool when using it against invaders or enemies in Elden Ring.
