Zelda Amiibos May Be Coming Back Ahead Of Tears Of The Kingdom

A listing posted to Best Buy’s website today has suggested that Nintendo may be restocking the Majora’s Mask Link amiibo ahead of the upcoming release of The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom. As Tears Of The Kingdom is set to be released for the Nintendo Switch on May 12 this year, it is expected that the Majora’s Mask Link restock will be fulfilled sometime over the next few weeks. No restock date is currently listed on Best Buy’s website.

If indeed the Majora’s Mask Link amiibo is coming back, it would not be the first of its kind to do so. At the start of the year, select Zelda amiibos — including the oft-sought-after Ocarina Of Time Link and Twilight Princess Link — were restocked in France, presumably also in anticipation of Tears Of The Kingdom (although at the time, the game’s exact release date was yet to be announced).

Nintendo has already confirmed that Tears Of The Kingdom will feature amiibo support. While the full extent of the game’s amiibo functionality is currently a mystery, four specific Legend Of Zelda amiibo have been shown to unlock exclusive paragliders when scanned into the game. One of these amiibo is the upcoming Tears Of The Kingdom Link, set to release alongside the game. Another is the Majora’s Mask Link, which only adds credence to the suggestion that Nintendo may be fully restocking this amiibo ahead of the game’s release.

The two other amiibo confirmed to be compatible with Tears Of The Kingdom are Breath Of The Wild Link and Skyward Sword Zelda And Loftwing, which was released in 2021 alongside The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD. According to the Tears Of The Kingdom website, simply scanning a Legend Of Zelda amiibo will grant the player certain weapons or materials. However, Nintendo hasn’t detailed whether this refers to all Zelda amiibos, or is exclusively limited to the four amiibo already revealed to work with the game.

At launch, The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild featured full support for a wide variety of Zelda amiibo, including those from the Link’s Awakening series, the 30th Anniversary Zelda series, and the Super Smash Bros. series. Notably, the game also supported amiibo from other Nintendo titles such as Animal Crossing and Super Mario; upon being scanned into the game, these amiibo would bestow a bounty of various items such as food and gemstones.

The Tears Of The Kingdom Link amiibo is currently available for pre-order through most online video game retailers. It is not yet known when the Majora’s Mask Link amiibo will be restocked, but fans and collectors alike may want to check Best Buy’s website for further updates.
