Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan is bringing yet another gripping season to Paramount+ with Lawmen: Bass Reeves’ first trailer teasing what’s to come.

The 22-second clip promotes the series based on Bass Reeves, a real-life legend who was the first black deputy US marshal west of the Mississippi River.

Portrayed by Spooks alumni David Oyelowo, the trailer starts with Bass riding on horseback before entering a property with a shotgun in his hand.

A montage is then shown of him fighting and shooting at those around him, with his voiceover narrating: “I’m the law of this land, I’m Deputy US Marshal Bass Reeves, and your wicked days are gone”.

At the end of the teaser, it was stated that Lawmen: Bass Reeves would be “streaming this fall on Paramount+”.

So it is only a matter of months before the drama begins to air on the streaming service and once again expands the Yellowstone universe.

Oyelowo, who has previously been in Silo, Selma, A United Kingdom and The Water Man, just to name a few, both stars and works as an executive producer on the show.

He will be joined by several other familiar faces in the period drama cast.

City on a Hill actress Lauren E Banks has been cast as Bass’ wife Jennie Reeves and Perry Mason star Shea Whigham as George Reeves, who was once enslaved by Bass.

A couple of months ago, it was confirmed that True Blood actor Dale Dickey and The Walking Dead’s Margot Bingham would also feature.

They will be joined by Yellowstone’s Moses Brings Plenty and King Richard star Demi Singleton who was confirmed in February.

And going by the drama’s description, Lawmen isn’t going to be one to miss out on.

The official synopsis for the show reads: “Lawmen: Bass Reeves will bring the legendary lawman and outlaws of the Wild West to life.

“Reeves, known as the greatest frontier hero in American history, worked in the post-Reconstruction era as a federal peace officer in the Indian Territory, capturing over 3,000 of the most dangerous criminals without ever being wounded.”

Lawmen: Bass Reeves will be released on Paramount+ later this year.
