WWE’s John Cena Comments On Vince McMahon Allegations

Former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon’s sexual harassment and abuse allegations have been in the spotlight for years now, with McMahon finally stepping down last year before returning to the company’s board of directors just months later. Now, one of WWE’s biggest stars, John Cena, has addressed the allegations against McMahon.

Talking to the Associated Press, Cena was asked about McMahon’s allegations and if he had reconciled with himself with his own feelings towards his former boss. Cena did not mince words and said he could never say he doesn’t love McMahon.

“No. I mean, everyone has the right to have their perspective. I have the right to have mine,” Cena replied. “When you love somebody, you take them as imperfectly perfect as they are. We all make mistakes, [and] we all have poor decisions. Lord knows I’ve made my collection of poor choices. That doesn’t mean I’m not going to love somebody. There’s no way I can go on record and say I don’t love Vince McMahon.”

McMahon has always been a polarizing figure in the world of professional wrestling, from taking the company that he inherited from his father and turning it into a worldwide brand, to downright stealing ideas for his own. However, if you watch most of the WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremonies, a majority of the inductees usually thank two people: God and Vince. He’s the epicenter of the company culture for better, or for worse.

Cena has been a staple of WWE culture for the past 20 years. A product of the company’s OVW training system before jumping to almost instant success, Cena is all things WWE performers aspire to be. With more than a dozen world championship reigns, Cena has become a pop culture crossover heavyweight. Cena is also a company guy through and through–even featured on the cover of WWE 2K23–despite being very much a part-time player these days.

Cena has made more appearances on WWE television recently to hype up a match between himself and up-and-comer Austin Theory for Theory’s United States Championship at this year’s Wrestlemania. McMahon is back on the director’s board as it looks like a sale of the company is closer than ever before.
