While sorceries are one of the main focuses of building a character around, there are many different types of sorceries and ways to use them in Elden Ring. While all staff can cast all forms of sorceries, certain staff are much more effective and give unique boosts to the sorceries that fall under the same type, making it useful to match your staff to your favorite spells.
One of these types of sorceries is invisible sorceries. The Staff of Loss offers an excellent bonus for those looking to prioritize these spells and can be obtained earlier in the game for those willing to ride torrent through the scarlet rot-covered eastern continent of the Lands Between.
Where To Find The Staff Of Loss
The Staff of Loss is found within the town of Sellia, in the eastern scarlet rot-covered area of the map. Start from the Sellia Under Stairs site of grace, and climb the stairs directly ahead to enter the town. Reaching the top of the stairs, head left and down the alleyway until you come across a path with stairs leading to an upper area off to the right side. Climb the stairs and walk towards the small golden sapling to obtain a Golden Seed and summon torrent.
Along the other side of the balcony you’re facing will be a root connecting to the next building over. Jump over the balcony onto the root, and look to the right to see a building with a small balcony. Use torrent’s double jump to get over the balcony and onto the roof of the other building. Dismount torrent and walk to the right side of the building, dropping down to the small balcony and looting the body to obtain the Staff of Loss.
How To Use The Staff Of Loss
The Staff of Loss requires 6 strength, 12 dexterity, and 14 intelligence to wield. This staff can be upgraded a total of 25 times and, in some of the later levels, will begin scaling off your intelligence stat with an “S” ranking. This weapon does not come with a skill and can also be used to hit enemies to do a minimal amount of physical damage, but that is not an advised usage for any staff.
This staff not only scales significantly off your intelligence but also provides an additional boost to invisibility sorceries. Invisibility sorceries refer to Night Shard and Night Comet, both of which briefly disappear after being cast and when traveling toward a target. While this is a useful trick in PVP, most people are able to predict these spells. NPC enemies around the world are unable to dodge these spells, making them incredibly useful in PVE, and this staff only makes them more powerful.
