As you progress through the wonderful story of Dave the Diver, you’ll start to get orders for very specific dishes. These occasionally yield game-changing rewards and are well worth the effort to fulfill. The VIP order for Michael Bang is one of those, and his meal requires several ingredients you might struggle to find. For many, the Coral Trout will be the last ingredient to track down, so let me show you where to find the Coral Trout in Dave the Diver.

Fish locations aren’t completely random in Dave the Diver. Most are bound to specific areas or depths. The Coral Trout is usually found in shoals of around three fishes at 50-130m down. Your depth is always labeled on your Oxygen Gauge.

As the Blue Hole is ever-changing, finding Coral Trout may take a while. In my testing, I’ve seen them directly below the boat at the appropriate depth. I’ve also seen them as far as you can travel to the east. If you’re getting unlucky, I recommend swimming as far east as you can at 50-130m deep. If you run into a wall, swim above or below it. As long as you’re not burning through your Oxygen by Speed Swimming, you should find all the fish you need in a single dive.

Dave the Diver highlights the fish you need for all your active objectives with a blue diamond. This marker will be visible until the VIP quest for Michael Bang is complete.

How do I get the other ingredients for Michael Bang?

The Coral Trout is arguably the most elusive, but there are a few other ingredients you need to track down. Here’s how to find each one:

Titan Triggerfish
Titan Triggerfish are one of the first hostile creatures players will encounter and look like yellow piranhas. By the time you’re doing VIP missions, these are trivial threats. You can find them in the shallows from 0-50m deep.

Harlequin Hind
Harlequin Hind are colorful blue fish with green stripes found at around 50-130m deep. These are fairly common, but if you’re struggling to find them, slowly patrol the appropriate depth until you do. Remember, don’t recklessly burn your oxygen, and you should get them within a single dive.

Rice
Finally, there’s the rice. You’ll be new to the farm mechanics at this point in the game, but you’re guaranteed to have the rice you need before the VIP shows up.

And there you have it! That’s where to find the Coral Trout and how to satisfy Michael Bang. If your ‘Cooksta’ rating has you stumped, check out our guide on increasing your ‘Best Taste’ rating.
