Where to buy PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch in May 2022

It certainly hasn’t been easy trying to find a PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or Nintendo Switch over the last few years.

Due to the global chip shortage, current generation hardware such as the PS5 and Xbox have been quite difficult to find online or in stores. It’s a frustrating situation, as the demand for these popular consoles still remains sky high as more and more games are released.

As of May 2022, it’s already been a stellar year for video games. Both PlayStation and Xbox users have been able to enjoy FromSoftware’s latest gem in Elden Ring. Sony’s latest first-party title, Horizon Forbidden West, is an upgrade in every way from its predecessor, and is stunningly gorgeous too. Plus, of course, Nintendo fans have Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and Nintendo Switch Sports to enjoy on the Switch.

There’s a lot to look forward to throughout 2022 as well, as Hogwarts Legacy will be landing on both PS5 and Xbox this holiday season. Pokémon fans will also be able to experience the next generation of the franchise with Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet later in the year.

If you’re still looking to snag one of these modern consoles, look no further! Here’s where you can buy a PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or Nintendo Switch.

Currently the hottest console on the market, the PS5 has two editions to choose from. The $499.99 model features a disk drive for physical copies of games, while the $399.99 model is digital-only console. Both consoles play the same games at the same graphical fidelity, with the only difference being the disk drive.

Depending on how much you value physical copies of games, the $100 price difference between the two could very well be worth it for such a hot commodity of a console.

Likewise, the newest Xbox console has two models of its own. The Xbox Series X ($499.99) is the more powerful console of the two, featuring higher graphical fidelity, more storage space, and a disk drive. On the other hand, the Xbox Series S can’t reach the same graphical highs as its more expensive counterpart and lacks a disk drive, but is a much cheaper ($289.99) alternative for those who don’t care as much about 4K resolution.

Thankfully, both consoles can play the exact same games so don’t worry about missing out on anything if the cheaper version fits your budget.

Where to buy Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite

Rounding out this list is the Nintendo Switch, which features two models of its own alongside a handhold only version. The original Switch ($299.99) docks to a TV and can be played in handheld mode with a standard screen alongside detachable Joy-Cons.

The OLED version is more expensive ($349.99), but features a bigger OLED screen — and thus better picture quality — for its handheld version plus detachable Joy-Cons. The OLED version also has double the internal storage space, but the major difference is in the picture quality of the handheld mode as both Switch consoles play the same games.

The Switch Lite ($199.99) also will play all the games a normal Switch can, but it cannot be docked to a TV as it is a handheld-only device. It also cannot detach its Joy-Cons from the side of the handheld alongside having a smaller screen.
