If you’ve ventured over to the Moonrise Towers in Baldur’s Gate 3, you’ll find that there’s a lot to discover. From the upper floors that house Ketheric Thorm’s very own bedroom, to the various floors that house the Absolute’s cultists. But one thing, in particular, might have caught your eye. I’m of course talking about the ominous red pit that can be found in the Moonrise Tower’s dungeons. But hold your horses because you may want to avoid this place if you’re unprepared. Here’s what lies in the red pit in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Baldur’s Gate 3: The red pit in Moonrise Towers

If you aren’t sure where this red pit is exactly, head down to the jail area of the Moonrise Towers. The entrance to this area is down a staircase that’s just to the right of the throne room. Then once you’re in the area, head west and either walk through the tower in the center of the dungeon or walk around it and jump across the gaps to avoid suspicion. The pit itself is in the southernmost corner of the Moonrise Towers Dungeon.

When you approach the red pit in Baldur’s Gate 3, it will be hard to miss. Not only is it ghastly decorated with various corpses, but an ominous red glow also emits from the pit itself. It’s to find a clearer message telling you to turn back. But for our purposes, we need to find out what’s down this pit. Before jumping down, be sure to cast Feather Fall to avoid damage. If you don’t have Feather Fall you don’t need to worry too much since the fall won’t quite kill if you have full health.

Once you jump down the red pit, you’ll find yourself in the Oubliette. This is a rather horrifying cavern of flesh and blood that harbors an area you normally wouldn’t see until near the end of Act 2. As far as loot goes there isn’t much to find, unfortunately. In fact, the area you get to explore is rather small. But if you’re in the mood to get a little experience there are a couple of Hook Horrors to fight just up the path. You can also find an Ilithid Parasite on the western side of the area which is handy if you’re trying to collect them.

The red pit in Baldur’s Gate 3 is a disgusting place. But it’s well worth the detour if you fancy a tease of what’s to come.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is now available on PC.
